Strike: Nigerians Mass To The Market To 'stock-pile' Food Ahead Of Monday: Pix's by Nobody: 7:00pm On Jan 08, 2012 |
Owing to the announced Anti-subsidy protest strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the advice by the Labour Union that Nigerians should stockpile foods, market points are observed to be flooded this weekend. President Jonathan in a National broadcast that is described by the NLC as unimpressive and not on terms, announced a plan to cut the government's recurrent expenditure, which includes a 25% cut in the basic salaries of Government officials. Nigerian workers breeze to markets regardless of the President's address as it shows no signal that is cogent enough for the Labour Union and Trade Union Congress to call of their proposed strike action. Banks were also reported to have been filled up than usual last Friday, with customers withdrawing funds that estimate will survive them for the strike period.
