Gov. Rotimi Amaechi Introduces N4 Subsidy On Fuel Sold In Rivers State by kakakibuy(m): 8:46pm On Jan 10, 2012
Governor of River State, in Nigeria's South-South region, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has introduced a N4 subsidy on fuel sold in his state.

Gov. Amaechi says the state government has reached an agreement with independent marketers to cut the spiked price of N141 down to N137.

The Rivers State government also says that it would subsidise transport in the state and that the state government would ensure security for all petrol tankers supplying fuel to filling stations in the state.

Governor Amaechi adds that the state government has reached an agreement with the National Union of Road Transport Workers to peg fares between N50 and N100 on major intra-city routes within the state.

I am impressed with the transport subsidy not the fuel subsidy. Tell him to stop the fuel subsidy and add it to the transport subsidy. There will be a terrible leakage in the fuel subsidy. I think he is the action Governor of 2012. He is fast. They still have two weeks to arrange the transport subsidy well. What of staff buses for state and local Government workers? That N4 will cover this comfortably.

Bloody hypocrite, removal of the subsidy was your idea, now you're trying to score cheap political points on a serious issue. You must think everyone is silly!!

The Rivers state commissioner for information has confirmed that the N4 is not subsidy but price reduction by marketers as a result of Rivers state hosting of major refinaries. All we need is transport subsidy as has been done by the Chairman of Abua/Odual local Government in Rivers State. He still maintains the old fares in his transport company.
