The National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, has pleaded with the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC to call off the on-going strike over the increase in pump price of petrol, just as it advised the Federal Government to enter into negotiation with Labour with a view to resolving the crisis.

Addressing newsmen in Makurdi recently, the National President of NANS, Comrade Adakole Ochai, pleaded with the contending parties to embrace dialogue in the interest of the suffering masses and the nation’s democracy.

Ochai lamented that the on-going strike and protests in the federation was mounting excessive pressure on the masses and advised organized Labour and the Federal Government to go back to the table in order to chart a way forward.

He warned that the nation was going through a lot of security challenges and any opportunity could be seized by hoodlums to perpetrate evil in the polity.

The NANS President also appealed to protesters and law enforcement agencies to observed restraint in order to avoid the shed of innocent blood and vandalism of public utilities.

He further appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call of its ongoing industrial action and consider the part of dialogue and also display patriotism as the nation was passing through economic hardship.
