Should he, the Asiwaju of Yorubaland, not be leading the protest instead of an Igbo?

Oga give us some credit now, haba! You have been told severally that the systems in Igboland does not encourage street protest. But the strike was well observed by private and government workers.

Now let me ask you, if not for the presence of 'area boys' and other hoodlums extorting money from people and intimidating traders, do you think informal sector workers will not go out in search of their daily bread? No?

My general suggestion is that strike should not affect non-salaried workers; if you see if from that angle you will begin to appreciate the challenges faced by SE/SS most who work in the informal sector.

Abeg, cut us some slacks and give credit where it is due! cool cool cool

Nchara, abeg no mind some of these guys jare! Some of them are too full of self importance for their folks and will not give credit to others. Look at how the only remember SNG group during the Yar Adua, Turia, GEJ saga.

Nobody remember the bravely and courage of Akunyili when she struck deep from the inside - into the heart of the cabal. Without Akunyili intervention, all those SNG marches would have been a wasted jamboree. But, my erudite colleagues from the SW conveniently forget such important intervention in their haste to take away Igboman credit.

Na wa oo!

Why starting with Lagos, Maidugiri and Bauchi should be first and second before going to other states.

I don't see how this is about igbo or not but from what you said I would jsut like to correct your illusion

there are NOT enough South-Easterner that protested because of tribalism. Those in Lagos etc are not South-easterners but South-westerners.

Thanks continue with your discussion cool

FYI, this was the same way they got military out power, it was their past actions that allowed the likes of Jonathan to leave academia to politics. They were the same people that rescued GEJ from the shackle of Turai to make him Acting President.

When the remaining sane people in Nigeria (mostly the silent and baby boomers) ar gone, i wonder what will become of Nigeria. A country where its new generation (majorly generations X and Y) has no collective desires but inidvidual/family goals of procreating, working  6am to 7pm everyday and in cases have fat salaries; using generator to power their electrical equipment etc,  and ultimately fail to be successful (have had little or no positive impact in the society leaving future generations hopeless).
Re: Balarabe, Utomi, Others To Protest Against Soldiers In Lagos Today by sugardaddy1(m): 7:33am On Jan 19, 2012
I hope GEJ handles this maturely this time around else this is the beginning of the end of his administration. These are no Labour union members that can be easily intimidated or influenced, they are die-hard activists that successfully scuttled  IBB's cling to power, Abacha's life-presidency ambition, OBJ's 3rd-term bid, and were responsible for the emergence of same GEJ as the Acting President against all odds.
A word is enough for the wise.

@ remii - we just can't stand aloof and watch the government plunder us. these protests have an impact, no matter how infinitesimal they may seem now but in the long run, they all add up. let's keep hope alive.

Wow. This is the very cream of Nigerian civil society. A rainbow coalition of the country's best, brightest, and most conscientious good-governance advocates. I'd like to see how Jonathan's goons would tear-gas them off the streets. jonathan has lost credibility and direction. . . .assuming he ever had either or both. He has become a mobile circus-show; a comedy of errors. . .an anti-Midas. Everything he touches, he ruins.
