Ringim Deadline Expires. Will Gej Afford To Sack Igp? by olapluto(m): 11:55pm On Jan 19, 2012
Our president apparently gave a face saving deadline to IGP to produce the terror suspect who was tactically released by CP Biu. This deadline is now over. As usual, our president is quiet. I believe this will actually define more who GEJ really is. No doubt he likes Ringim as no sane president would have given Ringim so much grace period. The country is being bombed virtually daily, and GEJ still stuck to his 'loyalty' to his good friend of Bayelsa days.
Ringim appointment on its own was a slap on the face of many top brilliant officers. Now there is a problem:
When Ringim was appointed, 6 DIGs and no less than 10 AIGs who were above AIG Ringim then had to be retired. This is like sacking the board members of a company and appointing assistant clerk to chair the board. Things had to change. That is why when I look at people like late Ganiyu Dawodu as DIG(died in hotel room with female colleague) and Audu Adamu, I fear for the country. We actually do not have competent people up there in NPF as at now. Merit was sidelined by GEJ and that is majorly responsible for what we have today.
During Obasanjo era, there was a trans-border criminal who terrorised Ogun people and environs. It took less than 3 days after presidential order for then AIG Ajao to get the criminal. Even the then president of Benin, Matthew Kerekou, was well warned.
All these look a distant past now as our police force is now headed by imcompetent people. If GEJ should sack Ringim, who will he be replaced with? A northerner? to satisfy the North? Who is the most intelligent DIG we have right now?
The vacuum left by GEJs loyalty appointment will take some time to fill,

Nice read tho. In one line; GEJ's appointments are reflections of his own incompetence. #fact.

Nearly 48 hours after the elapse of the marching order from the Federal Government to Hafiz Ringim, the Inspector General of Police to either re-arrest fleeing Boko Haram chieftain, Kabiru Umar, (aka Kabiru Sokoto,) suspected to be the mastermind of the Christmas Day bombing at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church that claimed over 40 lives, or lose his job, President Goodluck Jonathan seemed not to have made up his mind on what to do with his Police Chief.

This is even as the Police and the State Security Services dismissed rumours that the suspects has been re-arrested this morning.

The Federal Government, through Caleb Olubolade, the Minister of Police Affairs told journalists last Wednesday that Ringim has been given a query which he must answer within 24 hours over the escape of the suspect from the custody of a police team who had taken him for a search in his house located at Abaji area of Abuja last Sunday.

Soon word will spread that the 24 hour deadline was not issued from the presidency, that it is completely untrue and unfounded. Just you watch. grin

It is like this forum has become one to show case just how abusive you can be of the country's President. The more abusive, the higher the points here. I believe this is unwholesome. The ridiculing  of rulers  ultimately demean us as a people before the world. Let us tackle issues, however critically, without recourse to mudslinging. Afterall , the president does not govern Nigeria alone, he has 'nigeria' assisting him.
Re: Ringim Deadline Expires. Will Gej Afford To Sack Igp? by Kx: 1:23pm On Jan 20, 2012
Truth be told.
Ringim job is 100% intact with or without the 24 hrs ultimatum.

Mr. President sir, my advise is that you prove your critique wrong and use this case to purge the police of bad elements. Time to act is now.

My brother, a thousand salutes. When I come across Nairalanders like yourself who know history well and how it relates to what we have today , vis-a-vis falling standards of leadership efficacy and sagacity, I bow. I followed events back then in awe as well. Highly informative that Tafa Balogun at his imperious best , even if eventually disgraced for corrupt conduct, got results unlike this incompetent and undeserving average Policeman, in comparison to others, GEJ made IGP merely because he was desperate to win an election. May god help Nigeria with GEJ in charge. Sadly , as you noted , many fine senior officers are now no longer available for selection because of the divisive ambition of one vacuous man that has left Nigeria, in all aspects, much weaker.

Ikechukwu Eze And Theophane Patinvoh

BENINOISE authorities yesterday handed over the alleged car robbery kingpin, Ahmadu Tidjani, to their Nigerian security officials in line with the agreement signed by both countries last month to jointly fight transborder banditry.

A mass of curious Beninoise gathered to jubilate in the capital Cotonou as a convoy of Nigerian operatives took off with the wanted Tidjani.

You guys take it easy on Ringim cool cool his tenure is going to elapse next month so you should bother not yourself and we shall see the competent police that will take over but remember Nigeria is a programed nation that has to do with cabal so you do not expect good thing from them anymore.

Internet has offered a platform for some persons to flaunt their idiocy in public. It's regrettable that rather than objectively argue issues, some persons on NL resort to abusing GEJ - these are the sort that beat up their mother and challenge their father with catapult. Please the next time you come to this forum, leave your bad manners at home.

GEJ sack Ringim, i thought.

In any case they did say the Christmas day bomber had been rearrested

But there are strong indications that there is more is more to this story than meets the eye.
