Yesterday, hours after Megaupload was busted by federal authorities, Anonymous began a massive retaliatory attack that forced the websites of the Justice Department, the U.S. Copyright Office, the MPAA, the RIAA and others offline.

Anonymous has launched a massive attack on government and pro-SOPA/PIPA websites today in retaliation for a federal raid on Megaupload earlier today. The AnonOps Twitter account claimed responsibility for the attacks, which are being promoted with the #OpMegaUpload hashtag. As of press time, the websites of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Justice Department and Universal Music Group have all been taken online. As this article was being written, the U.S. Copyright Office was forced offline as well.

According to Anonymous, "We Anonymous are launching our largest attack ever on government and music industry sites. Lulz. The FBI didn't think they would get away with this did they? They should have expected us."

Many members of Congress have just changed their stance on the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, the raid on Megaupload Thursday proved that the feds don’t need SOPA or its sister legislation, PIPA, in order to pose a blow to the Web.

Don't you use your brains before you start typing? Show us where it is written in this article that the sites were knocked offline PERMANENTLY!

All those sites were shut down for a while, but every single one of them has system admins that work around the clock to tackle issues like these.

I implore you, stop exhibiting your lack of intelligence in a public forum!

The effect of this SOPA may not be clear Nigeria now, but we should be prepare for it if it eventually scale through. Though, i doubt seriously if this attempt will ever work.

Stop being a dunce and read (and comprehend) the articles and previous replies before posting. Of course, they are working now but all of the websites were inaccessible at some point due to DDoS hacks. What = Do you think  they don't have there on IT experts who can sort out the problems.
