GEJ should keep to being a "clown" rather than carry on with this pretension to being president.

Beaf:

Nothing bold can be expected from cowards, fork-tongued false prophets, and evil exploiters of the weak and poor in the name of tithes.
Bakare should keep to making "prophesies" that he himself contradicts like a clown.

Put the Rally off and wait for 2015

Some people here are either brainless or too wicked.

1. Govt can not, will not and is not willing to assure any citizen of their security.
2. SNG is being responsible by calling off the protests. If the protests are held and people are killed, the same moruns here calling them cowards would turn around to call them murderers.
3. The murderers we have in Nigeria are those who have watched as a faceless group has murdered hundreds of its citizens with reckless abandon.
4. The cowards we have in Nigeria are those who choose to call wrong right because their brother's in power.
5. SNG porotests brought GEJ to power. No matter how crooks and benefactors of the current regime try to make us forget that by playing tribalistic cards, we will always remember, at least the few of us left who still have a good reasoning faculty.

Im ashamed this is the first Niger Delta president. The sooner the Niger Deltans realise we are also not benefitting from this regime, the better for us and the best for Nieria.

I thought people were castigating NLC and TUC leaders for suspending their strike based of the security reports the FG shared with them (NLC/TUC).

Why is SNG now "suspending" their own rally due to the same security concerns?

Can someone please explain this to me?

Am I missing something?

And who are these wanton and reckless that the SNG refers to?
Re: Save Nigeria Group" Victory Rally" Called Off by Nobody: 5:31am On Jan 21, 2012
why can't we unite for once and fight our common enemy? why do we always tribalise issue? if the protest is continued amidst the killing of their brothers in the north, some pple will label them heartless, if otherwise, they are labelled cowards. why?!!! whether d protest was right or wrong is not the issue, but is it justifiable to continue with such when it's glarring that we are tactically at war with our common enemy shown by series of bomb blasts in a densely populated area like kano? i don't care whether it was called off out of fear, compromise or compassion, they did the right thing.

No pun intended, but if they really believe in their cause they wouldn't back down.
Period.

Indeed. When did you see Egyptians backing down? Or the poorly armed French against their well armed ruthless and corrupt King and Nobility (before Youtube)?

Re: Save Nigeria Group" Victory Rally" Called Off by Nobody: 9:07am On Jan 21, 2012
Well I'm not a SNG sympathiser but a southwesterner

However in view of the mindless killings of innocent southerners in the north, you will observe that most of the victims have been from the south-east. So how come with the 'legendary' bravery of the southeasterners, has no one or group protested by any means the deaths of their own in the north? Once again I'm not a member of the OPC but the group staged a protest or was it a threat through a rally warning BH from carrying out any attacks in the South-West. The SNG protests have always been about good governance and whether or not they called today's rally/protests off, it is worthy of note that some people from the South West have spearheaded a struggle which others can only dream of.

I am highly disappointed by the comments of supporters of GEJ on this issue. Although I have never been a fan of Bakare or his save Nigeria group, shelving the planned protest was the most sensible thing to do. Kanu has become a war zone for that matter and every patriotic Nigeria must rally around GEJ to fight a common enemy. We can continue with out bickerings after the common enemy had been contained. For God sake we do not even know who was killed in kano, the SS and SE people in this forum should be more concerned about the death of their people in Kano than whether SNG protests or not.

It would be highly irresponsible for the SNG to go ahead with today's planned protests given the reasons cited below. Not everyone can be like the FG concerning a blatant disregard for the safety of Nigerian lives. We all know, famously, that the FG received warnings of the Independent day and UN building bombings yet did nothing praoctive to safegaurd Nigerian lives. The rest, as they say, is history. Well done SNG for putting Nigerians first. There will certainly be more opportunites in future to express your opinion.

SNG Calls Off Saturday’s "Victory Rally", Says Militants Have Been Posted To Lagos To Harm Protesters

Posted: January 21, 2012 - 03:34

The Save Nigeria Group (SNG) this evening called off the "victory rally" scheduled for Saturday at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Lagos.

SNG said the decision was based on the unprecedented terror attack in Kano on Friday in which several police formations and other institutions were rocked by bomb blasts with an unspecified number of deaths recorded 24 hours to a planned protest in the city.

It expressed its condolences to the families which lost relatives in the Kano bomb attacks. “This tragic occurrence has made us to take more seriously intelligence reports we have received to the effect that militants have been posted to Lagos and lodged in various hotels with alleged instructions to infiltrate our gathering in order to cause mayhem that would lead to loss of lives,” SNG spokesman Yinka Odumakin said.

He said in order not to give the blood of the people for which it is fighting to those who are “bloodthirsty,” the group decided to stay off the streets for Saturday’s event.

“We enjoin our people to remain calm and await further directives in the days ahead,” he said.

Nigeria Govt Was warned of UN Abuja Bombing
Written by Egbuefi Blogs

Security experts, Diplomats, UN Officials, the Opposition, and Nigerians are blaming President Goodluck Jonathan, government bureaucracy and lethargy on the part of the intelligence community for the ease with which terrorists pick their targets leaving behind  casualties. A more dangerous development is the feeling among the generality of Nigerians that President Goodluck Jonathan and his officials know the people behind the Boko haram scourge but are afraid to take action against them.
A commentator who simply gave his name as Barry said the security situation in Nigeria is rather terrible and it is known all over the World that security personnel in the Army/police/SSS are behind most violent crimes in Nigeria including terrorism, armed robbery, kidnapping, assassination etc
He said "the main Boko Haram are in the Military/Police/SSS and their weapons are from the armoury in Nigeria and being sponsored by Northern Islamic retired Generals, businessmen and politicians. The Islamic Boko Haram that bombed the UN building are same network in the Forces and they are there within Abuja and environs. Their ultimate target is the President and Jonathan must review his security apparatus."

I will ask President Goodluck Jonathan to investigate his Inspector General of Police, Mr Hafiz Ringim, for alleged sympathies to Boko Haram. The IGP is said to be stocking all vital police posts with Northerners and Islamists.
For example, 31 of the 37 State Police Commissioners are Northern Muslims
9 out of the 12 Assistant Inspector's General (AIG) are Northern Muslims
47 of the 58 Squadron commanders are Northern Muslims.
and more facts on this lop-sided nature of Nigeria Police force are coming soon.

Diplomatic sources say those charged with tackling the security challenges posed by Boko Haram are playing with the destiny of the nation. See how these terrorists strike their targets at will.

According to the Vanguard, a source in diplomatic circles also said the attack on the UN building in Abuja could have been averted if the security and intelligence communities have  been proactive and global in their interpretation of the events around them.
“We warned that the events in the Arab world, specially the political turmoil in Libya, could filter to Nigeria because of the religious colouration", he said.

The scenario gets scarier with the United Nations’ Security Chief, Gregory Starr, saying that the United Nations warned the Nigeria government about security threats to their office in Nigeria.

There had been worse blasts in the country before the Kano blast. Why didnt they see that before? When NLC/TUC called off the protests citing insecurity reasons, the same SNG called them names. Now they are citing insecurity reasons for calling off the so called victory rally! Victory over what, if I may ask?
