Furor Within Judiciary As Andy Uba Bribes Justices Over Senate Seat.

Highly reliable sources within the judiciary as well as the inner circles of sacked Senator Andy Uba have told SaharaReporters that the former special assistant on domestic matters to President Olusegun Obasanjo has arranged to buy a judgment from the Court of Appeal in Enugu reinstating him in the National Assembly.

“A big judicial scandal is about to take place,” a senior member of the judiciary told SaharaReporters, adding, “Andy’s scheme is with the connivance of Justice Dalhatu Adamu, acting President of the Court of Appeal.”

Other sources confirmed the scheme. They also revealed that those who helped to broker the shocking judicial scam, due to be announced soon, include former President Obasanjo, Senate President David Mark, Aloysius Katsina-Alu, who recently retired as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and current attorney general and Minister of Justice Mohammed Bello Adoke. Also involved are some corrupt justices of the Court of Appeal, Enugu.

On December 22, 2011, the Court of Appeal removed Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba (better known as Andy Uba) from the Senate, and ordered that fresh elections be held in the Anambra South senatorial zone.

However, two sources close to Uba disclosed that he began immediately to use high-level political contacts as well as corrupt justices to ensure that the judgment removing him is overturned.

“Even though the Court of Appeal that terminated his ill-gotten mandate is the final tribunal in such cases, Chief Uba and his allies have successfully lobbied Justice Dalhatu Adamu to authorize a judgment that would invalidate that of December 22,” said one of our judicial sources.

Mr. Uba acquired a huge fortune from the oil sector during the administration of Obasanjo. He was one of the closest aides of President Obasanjo who gave him virtual control of the NNPC and other oil-related deals. A security source in Abuja revealed that both Uba and Obasanjo stole hundreds of millions of dollars from the oil sector, with Uba serving as the former president’s agent.

Our political sources revealed that Uba’s illegal plan to reverse the judgment against him began shortly after the court’s initial ruling. One source said Uba had initially budgeted N600 million for the election. But he soon confided in some close associates that it would be dicey to run an election he could lose, given that he and his notorious brother, Chris, have high levels of unpopularity in Anambra State. Uba and his associates were reportedly aware that all eyes would be on the re-run election, and that rigging could prove extremely difficult if not impossible.

Our sources indicated that both Uba and his facilitators – especially Senator Mark and former President Obasanjo – decided that it was safer to use the N600 million to bribe Justice Dalhatu and the Justice Denton-West-led appeal review panel.




One source disclosed that Senate President David Mark was used to mount pressure on Justice Dalhatu Adamu to set up a new review panel. Senator Mark promised Justice Adamu easy confirmation when his equally scandalous nomination to be the substantive president of the appellate court comes up in the Senate.

SaharaReporters also gathered that David Mark reached out to his bosom friend, Attorney General Bello Adoke, as well as retired former CJN Katsina-Alu. Together, they persuaded their surrogate, Justice Dalhatu Adamu, to contrive an illegal "Review Panel" headed by Justice Denton West, described by one judicial source as “one of the most corrupt persons to have ever served as a justice.”

Justice West’s so-called review panel is headed to Enugu on a mission to “review a valid and final judgment of the Court of Appeal,” said one source. The source added that Justice West’s mandate is to alter the previous order for re-run election in all the 7 local government areas of Anambra South Senatorial zone to a repeat election in only Aguata local government area where Andy Uba comes from.

“Some other state assembly cases in Anambra State were also brought into the list of cases that Justice Denton West panel will review, but that is just to add cover to their silly and illicit assignment,” said a source within the judiciary.

One of sources revealed that several senior appeal court justices have expressed surprise and indignation “over this strange panel unknown to law.” SaharaReporters learnt that Justice Jega, the presiding justice
at the Court of Appeal Enugu, was initially contacted to do the dirty job, but he declined, fearing for the terrible effect such an assignment would have on his reputation and career.

“Everybody knows that the Court of Appeal is the final court of arbitration for all election cases originating from election tribunals,” said an “outraged” Senior Advocate of Nigeria. “I wonder why Justice Dalhatu Adamu would stoop so low as to try to reverse a final decision of a Court of Appeal which he has no
powers to do,” he added. The SAN said he was troubled that Andy Uba continues to feature in schemes to buy illegal judgments from unethical judges. “A judiciary that acquires a reputation as a cash-and-carry institution is laying the foundation for the collapse of society,” he said, adding: “People resort to the law courts only when they can have reasonable expectations that justice will be served. Otherwise, they will resort to self-help, a recipe for anarchy.”

One of our sources stated that Justice Dalhatu Adamu’s agreement to push Andy Uba’s fraudulent goals underlines why many people and groups in the judiciary, the bar association and civil society opposed his appointment as acting president of the Court of Appeal. “The man has very low morals and lacks integrity.”

The Denton West “review panel” is expected to be in Enugu this Thursday to sit on the Andy Uba vs. Chuma Nzeribe case. A source disclosed that Mrs. Justice Denton West has already arrived in Enugu to undertake her corrupt and dirty job.

Why do Judges collect bribes in all forms, because they cannot be prosecuted, they have a strong cult gathering and they feel like God's. even the President can't stand up to a Judge.

(a) Was Andy Uba's election annulled in December 2011 by the Court of Appeal?

(b) Is the Court of Appeal the final arbiter in an election petition for senatorial seat?

If all the above are in affirmative, then one begins to wonder why another panel should be set up to revisit the judgement of a court which ones given is the final. This is another kind of Sokoto Gubernatorial saga which PDP used to unleash mayhem on Justice Salami, now it is the President of the Court of Appeal dancing to their tune.

This must be resisted in every form, they should stop messing up the judiciary abeg.
