Academic Staff Union of Universities is set to call off its strike action after its consultation with individual striking universities on the offer made by the Federal Government.

ASUU had been on strike for over two months now demanding increased funding for universities as well as increased wages and retirement age for members from 65 to 70 years.

A reliable source told Daily Trust that the leadership of the union under Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie has finished consultations with members and members have accepted government’s offer even though he refused to state what had been offered.
Professor Awuzie is expected to make the pronouncement suspending the strike action on Wednesday.

The news report quoted sources from Daily Trust and besides it's only a fool that goes to the net once in a month who wouldn't know that ASUU as at late last week said they would hold a NEC meeting to review the FG's concessions and come out with a position on whether to call off the strike this week or not.
