Prof Soyinka should relocate to the East and stay there. Nothing will happen to him there. He can choose between Owerri (Imo) and Uyo (Akwa Ibom); he will be very safe there.
He needs a place with very low Muslim population (whether locals or migrants) in Nigeria.
That man is an asset and must be protected by all means.

Kongi would look 20 years younger if he shaved his beard and trimmed his hair really low.   Nobody would recognize him anywhere looking like that.

Alternatively Wole Soyinka could retain his beard and simply dress up in a Muslim turban when out on the road, to assume a look exactly like the people who want him dead.

Beard or no beard, Soyinka is a precision crack-shot with a variety of weapons, so any gunman trying to nail him will be liquidated real quick, most likely with a head-exploding impact, fired from a very long range.
