Not sure if the latest redsn0w support 6.1 baseband preservation. Just wait till Sunday. iOS 6.1 untethered will be out and I'm sure an updated Redsn0w that will support 6.1 baseband preservation will also be out. So just chill for now.

It means d server dat allows free checking of SIMLOCK status is down. Only paid service is available. If u are really curious, u can pay 300 naira to check or just wait till d free servers start working again. They av been down since Monday. But since its a 3GS on 4.1, there is a 90% chance it's locked. They need to stay on 4.1 so they can jailbreak and unlock it.

It's not jail broken, I'm not using a chip either, my sim was cut and placed in, just a sim tray on the right side of the phone, don't know how the chip works, I use an etisalat sim on it, I also tried airtel and it was working, just want to know how best to go about this phone I'll appreciate every form of enlightenment

I've confirmed the latest Redsn0w can also preserve baseband on 6.1 I just did a restore with Redsn0w now. The iPhone 4 I tried was on iOS 4.2.1

The restore will be done only with Redsn0w. You will just need iTunes to activate the iPhone after the restore.

Yes but you need 2 firmwares. 6.1 and 6.0 (not 6.0.1)
