Our reporter in Kaduna reports that their is a gun battle taking place at the moment at the vicinity of the Government House in Kaduna.

It is not clear yet who the security agents are exchanging gun fire with and traffic on most access roads to the government house are chaotic as motorists and pedestrians scamper for safety.

Boko haram members had only on Tuesday last week launched an attack on the Headquarters of the 1 Mechanized Division and detonated one other bomb along Kawo fly over and another close to the perimeter fence of the Air force Base in what they claimed were reprisal attacks for the arrest of their sect members in the state.

Several shots are being fired in the city of Kaduna near the government house now. Residents fearing Boko Haram attacks are scampering to away to safety.

UPDATE:  Saharareporters confirms that soldiers guarding the government house open fire on a vehicle conveying a director in the Kaduna state government hopuse after he failed to stop at a checkpoint.  The soldiers mistook him for a suicide bomber according to sources.




No injuries or death reported as at the time of filing this report.
