Beneficiaries Of Ohakim’s 10,000 Jobs Sue Imo Govt by WebSurfer(m): 2:27am On Feb 15, 2012
Beneficiaries of Chief Ikedi Ohakim administration’s 10,000 jobs have dragged Imo State government and the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to the National Industrial Court.

The beneficiaries, who are piqued by the manner they were sacked by the Rochas Okorocha’s administration, are seeking the intervention of the court in the matter.

Apart from praying for an order reinstating them in their positions in the state public service and without loss of pay and seniority, the beneficiaries equally urged the court to order the state government to pay them N990 million as general and special damages for deprivations, humiliations, frustration, trauma and losses they suffered.

Averring that their appointments were suspended and later declared defunct without due process, the claimants stated that there was no decision or judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction authorizing the state governor to suspend them or declare their appointments null and void.

The claimants also averred that the governor lacked the prerequisite legal authority to suspend and/or revoke their appointments without recourse to existing Imo State Public Service Rules.
