Ain and Ghana star striker
Asamoah Gyan has retired from
international football with
immediate effect for an indefinite
period.
According to Supersport.com
Ghana editor Gary Al Smith, Gyan
confirmed his international
retirement and indeed sent a
letter to the Ghana Football
Assocation yesterday.
In the letter, Gyan says that ‘the
decision has the full backing of
family and friends’.
The on-loan Sunderland striker
has hit 28 goals in 59
appearances for Ghana, but came
in for heavy criticism after missing
a penalty in the 2012 African
Nations Cup semifinal against
Zambia, a match the Black Stars
eventually lost 0-1.
It is understood that the intense
criticism has played a part in this
decision
