phonebook: its amazin how much one can learn by simply 'googlin' d web! just learnt two recipes for home made fabric freshner.one method uses vodka, distilled water nd essential oils,d second method usin baking soda, fabric conditioner and vinegar.febreeze was an option but the cost restrictive. i'm hitting th stores first thing tomorrow.i would advice you find an uncommon fabric conditioner in addition to vinegar. Be careful with baking soda as i am unsure of its effect on certain fabric types. Vinegar, i can vouch for. I wish you all the best and many open doors in your venture. 2 Likes |

i think the grade of clothing affects the smell. higher end might be better preserved though i'm not sure. you can try dry cleaning the clothes though that might not be cost effective. i'd have said baking soda but someone pointed out it could affect certain fabrics. maybe air them overnight if possible? |

Guess what? I did this biz during my undergraduate days in unilag & I made alot of money as all my customers thought they were new cloth from jay-d cos they were always smelling fresh. Even after graduation, I still have 2 of them that used to demand buh I just had to let go to get some thing that can sustain a family & a lifetime. Now to the secret, I used to be careful while buying my stocks, avoid faded ones. I bought only 1st grade or factory reject or stock. Next is to remove any stain caused in transit mildly 2 avoid stretchn d material or neck with premier soap not detergent for multicolored cloth then rinse avoiding squeezn. Then I go to Park n Shop @ V.I. or shop rite to buy FABRIC WASH (1K+) , apply d fabric wash in clean ordinary water, rinse d cloth d second time with d fabric wash then dry. Avoid squeezin, I can assure u that d whole smell would be gone and now smellng jay-d. Next is to Iron then fold and put it neatly at d back seat of my car or in my room wit d a.c. on. The aroma of my car or my room due to electric airfreshner i use in my room or d carz nice smell would also do a lil work. Customer does nt v a choice. You can also consider d fabric steamer buh try this whyl ur makn research 2gt d fabric steamer. Remember d key is fabric wash, just apply some cups of it into d water and rinse, I use it with my own normal cloth coupld wit my perfume. My female peeps cant help hugging me. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Awww this thread takes me back to my college/university days I invested in so many old pieces "vintage/retro" the posh names for them I hate the 'samey' look with everyone else you get when you buy clothes from high street stores and I definitely could not afford the boutique prices then so I used to go to so many thrift/vintage stores, charity shops, ebay vintage sections Girl will be looking like she was from the 1920's with my afro hair feeling cool with myself haha! Anyway, what I use to do was just take them to the dry cleaners. Poster, if you can factor dry cleaner charge and you still have a good price margin, then go for it. |
