In this era of human existence, it is not uncommon for individuals to have a role model. The role models are usually selected from accomplished folks from all works of life such as religion, politics, entertainments, academics, industry and so on. Some even go to the extent of attributing their successes to such role models. Just randomly ask someone beside you of his/her role model and you immediately receive spontaneous response from them and one might look awkward if one doesn't have a role model. Please, I want to know if people can succeed without a role model and what are the merits and demerits of having a role model?

It's good to have one, but it doesn't mean one can't succeed without having one.
