First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has cautioned wives of newly appointed ambassadors to beware of their comments while serving in their various countries of posting.

Speaking during induction course for spouses of the ambassadors-designate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Mrs. Jonathan advised the spouses to establish and maintain good image of the country at all time and exhibit the highest level of comportment in their public and private life.

“As a woman, you have a duty to assist your husband to carry out his national assignment and showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage and take part in what is best in your country,” she advised.

Mrs. Jonathan also called on the spouses to actively participate in international activist in their countries of posting.

“You may remember that Nigeria is currently experiencing some internal challenges, you must therefore as diplomats be conscious in your comments when these issues arise during the course of your relations in your country of accreditation” she added.
