A serving federal permanent secretary (names withheld) has been arrested over a N18 billion scam uncovered in the police pension scheme with N2 billion cash found in his residence. The matter has been handed over for prosecution to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). If he kept 2 billion Naira at home then he would have nothing less than 20 billion in multiple bank accounts. The 2 billion was just 10% kept for EMERGENCIES. He is going to get plea bargain and pay N500,000:OO out of the 18 billion Naira they stole, and this is only what was detected i.e on paper and not what they actually stole. After all EFCC is trying to legalize plea bargain which is another way of saying it is okey to steal as long as you return 1% when you are caught. |

This is a stale news. Nevertheless, I like what is happening now especially with the new banking policy. There seem to be no hiding place for all of them and very soon, they will all be tired of stealing money because the same stolen monies would eventually choke then to death. |

In fact, I gathered from a very reliable source that there is serious mumbling and grumbling by military pensioners as those of them who opted out of the PENCOM Scheme recently have been grossly underpaid. I learnt they were paid half of their entitlements by the military pensions board. I think this is a wrong time to toy with the benefits of ex-soldiers beacuse of the security situation in the country. They could easily be hired by Boko Haram, MEND and other militant groups to cause further damage to this country. The ealier those in charge of ex-soldiers benefits refund the remaining balance the better for the security of this country. |

This one is no news. Perhaps, he was caught because he refused to share the spoil with others who unveiled him to the EFCC.
