I use my ipad. I rarely bring my bible. When I study at home I use my bible sometimes because I have some parts highlighted that I read a couple of times a week. Sometimes it just feels good pagung the bible LOL. As per the phone though how conducive is it. How fast will it take you to get to the verse and still follow along without being distracted. It is not a sin but a phone as your Bible might be stretching it a little

Besides there are many, many, many....maaaaaaany phones devices out there that allows you to HIGHLIGHT things. There are even phones where you can transfer bible verses to your memo pad and makes notes.

There are phones which will give you 3 different versions of the same verse, there are phones with apps that will include commentaries for better understanding, as a matter of fact there are phones with the app which does a fantastic job with Bible Study and breaking things down for you than 90 % of the Pastors out there.

One thing I know for sure, the phone is not gonna stand on the alter in his white suit, shouting "I can never be poooooooooooooooor" while his poor and ignorant congregation go into epileptic fits, praising "God" on his behalf.

I dare say, I would take a phone over any Naija pastor any day!!!

Everyone you have all said well, but in my opinion using phone bible during service is not a sin! But one thing I tell you is that using it during service portrays the using as unserious and lazy! Even your ipad should not even be used....you should find joy in running through the bible during service so that you'll get aquinted with the pages. You might have millions of reason to use it, but I would never be caught dead in church with my bible phone or Ipad. I see many men of God now using IPAD during service....wow signs of end-time...we should disconnect from all forms of distraction in the presence of God.

Now answer this question during your lectures is it acceptable to use your phone textbook or Ipad in the presence of your professor? Your guess is as good as mine. So if you can respect man then why can't you respect the King of kings and be serious in his presence.

My opinion don't use your electronic bible (phone bible app and IPAD) during service....it is could be distractive and at the same time annoying and offensive to some people, they might think you are browing, twitting or checking facebook!

In addition, those gadgets are [b]very good [/b]when you are doing your personal bible study.

Weren't the ten commandments embedded in stone slabs? Technology progressed to using scrolls and ink then to the printing press and its now moving to electronic format. SHIKENA!

- A single Book can be in various forms -
Paper Book (or Printed form) - in computer we call this Hardcopy
E-Book - (electronic book) - book stored on a computing device
- For the information contained in a Book to reach a wider range of people it has to be made available in the various forms

Whether you carry a PAPER BIBLE or an ELECTRONIC BIBLE on a Laptop, Palmtop, DEsktop, Ipad, or any Smart phones does not matter to anyone except one exhibiting his/her level of ignorance and technology backwardness. What matters most is ARE YOU REALLY READING THE BIBLE (the particular format immaterial) with the whole of attention it requires? ARE YOU LIVING BY THE CONTENT OF THE BIBLE?

The reading of the Bible is to educate us about God, Man and man's only enemy among other things.

The world education system has changed from the primitive Blackboard to White Board to Interractive (Electronic) Board and many students are mandated to get Laptops as a requirement during admission. Even many secondary school students now use laptops in classes.

The truth is; this is the ELECTRONIC AGE. And the God of ALL AGES IS THE OWNER OF ALL INVENTIONS. He is chanelling many of His messages to mankind in different regions electronically - e.g Telivision, Radio, Internet, DSTV, etc. as He does with the printed formats on paper.

When it comes to Church service

- Be sincere of your intention or motives
- Do not deceive yourself
- If you notice it distracts others who are still very backward then you have 2 options
- You either stop using it or minimize the frequency of use and at the same time
- Take time to educate those showing concerns as to why the use of either phones, laptop, etc.
- In itself it is a normal thing. No big deal. Infact, it comes with a lot of advantages over paper Bible.
- However it is not a total replacement for the Paper Bible and vice versa.
