Martini101: Nollywood don dey copy Ghollywood! I do watch either of them only when am wit my friends or alone. D last time i watched Ghanian movie wit my mum, when they started their indecency stuff, i just held my phone to my ear as if i was answering call straight to my room and neva came back. Lol
They call their industry Ghallywood.
:-)
Nice way to desert a movie.

Nice thread poster..frankly speaking, i prefer foreign movies to Nigeria's sex-laden movies. I like educative and morally sound movies.i don't patronise Nigerian movies due to the following reasons:
1. Illicit and nude scenes which the poster rightly noted, which are bad for the kids that come to my house to watch.
2. With just watching two scenes, i can predict the remaining scenes.
3. Nigerian movies these days don't reflect the title.

The major problem I have with Nigerian movie is classification, they can't classify the movie, in a movie your see horrorful scene, magical scene, love scene, spiritual scene, sex scene, comedy scene, they finally tagged such movie as true life story, after 3 hours of time wasting you will then see the caption, THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING.
You hadly seen Nigerian movie correcting an act in the society.

....car disappearing
....masquerade in the house of God
....gateman slapping his boss unjustly.
....evil spirit or demon encounter in the bush or forest, how come Natgeo world had no documentary on this demon and evil if they really exist
....armed robbers disappearing during police pursuit.
....scene that deliberately show the inefficiency of our law enforcement agent.
....scene confirming that charms actually work, adulterating the reasoning of viewers.
....encouraging and recognizing area boys, agbero, oluomo, olohunwa, drup pushers, idolatry, opc etc
....claiming there is bullet waver, ayeta, acid na water, photocopy, fortune users etc
...clamming there is healing from religious angle instead of taking the sick to hospital.

All these things bring reasoning backward, and will always boxed the thinking of the viewer

I'm yet to find a good reason to sit the full length of a Nigerian movie. Apart from its indecency, its full of dumb plots. OMG! You can predict the next scene on to the last. If dem shoot person, blood no dey comot. I just tire.

I don't even bother watching Ghana movies cos that one na confirm p.orn.

Nollywood use to sell because of it's creativity, while ghollywood lack creativity and depends on sex scenes to sell their movies, ghollywood use to depend on nollywood to promote their movies because nollywood was way far ahead of ghollywood but to my suprise nollywood allowed lowly rated ghollywood to influence them so badly that today nollywood cannot sell without sex scenes, my opinion is that if they want to do porn, they should go ahead and do porn and i would gladly patronize them but if not they should just concentrate on our old creative and educative movies.

Most of sexual acts I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ nollywood movies all started wen nigerians started doin collabo's with d ghanians. Ghanians are naturally promiscous n its unfotunate dat nollywood is taking after gollywood becos we r decent &have more values dan dey ghanians have.

I am bemused by the comments Nairalanders have made on this thread. Let us appreciate what we have cry cry cry There are some good Nollywood Movies around and they are being screened at the Cinemas. Movie Producers like Kunle Afolayan and Obi Emenloye have stepped up the game and you can watch their Movies at the Cinemas springing up all over Nigeria. Movies like 'Phone Swap', 'The Figurine', 'Anchor Baby' ( Lonzo Nzekwe ) etc are really good with solid story lines. People should think before they make comments. I've watched some Hollywood Movies that glorify sex too. Nollywood is growing very fast on a daily basis and we need to support the Industry. I accept there is a need for improvement by some Nollywood Directors and Producers. However, with time, the wheat will be separated from the Chaff. Cheers.

They are not all bad, some of them are quite interesting to watch, like the comedies, i think the movie industry needs reorientation to set the messages and entertainment on the right perspective so that our culture and values will not be lost in the scheme of modernization or trend chase cos whether we like it or not its getting worse as we move to the next generation, then we are not helping but destroying our future

I think it is becoming so pathetic.
It is losing the fun that used to come with it, cos you watching with kids and you have to keep fast forwarding the movies.

Nigerian movies are now very horrible compared to then. I can't even watch their films on African magic. Most movies are rated-16, but many of them should be X-rated. Its bad enough that we've had to endure their bad acting, poor script writings, poor story lines, poor images, poor scenes were they'll spend almost 30 mins just doing nothing (not to mention the really poor background music that goes with it). Now they have to added nudity to it. The worst part is, they can't act it well.

It could be so embarrasing at times. Most times when I am bored with nothin 2 watch, I normally flip through the channels 2 see one or two movies, and my mom walks into the sitting room, as if it had been well timed, one of such scenes immediately pops up, my mom ll then ask 'so dis is what you have been watching'? Immediately I ll start pressing my fone and reply 'no mom I av been playing game on my fone all along'. Gosh I ll feel lik hiding myself somewhere

I can remember when last I allowed my kids to watch such movies. Years back I placed a blanket ban on watching such inappropriate movies.

I miss the days of Dolly Unachukwu, susan patrick and sandra achums. Since Mercy johnson and Ini Edo entered nollywood, I just bid farewell to Nollywood. But some movies are quite okay.

Nigerians are just Illiterates... I see norrin wrong in Naija muvees.. I don't like them though, Cuz they kill your intellect. Infact its berra for your kids to watch anoda intellectual killing machine like "Cartoon network" Than for them to see a Naija muvee.. I know that the Ghanians av gone a bit far. We should emulate them smiley

Aven't even seen a Naija muvee or a Ghanian one in the last 2yrs.

the question is are these films labeled to say nudity and strong words ? they might be but people just take things for granted with having a look on the infor, a good station would edit such parts
