Is there some stigma attached to the word destiny in Benin?

Literarily but not definite.

It's more of the former than the latter.

Osawe - What God says

I am not so sure about that translation, honeric01.
WE, as in English WELL, will give OSAWE as GOD SAYS.

However, WE in OSAWE is pronounced as WAY. OSAWAY.
The translation becomes totally different.
Actually, the full name is ENOSAYAWEMWEN.

I think OSAWE could be
(1) God made me popular
(2)God made me as as example
(3) God announced me
(4) God made me famous, known

I think I am right. Maybe. Lol. Edo logho gbe , otemwen.

You may be right though, somewhat confusing..

Maybe she should give us the full name, then we can actually come up with the full meaning, for now, BINI-wise, it sounds like i put it sir.

Another twist, just called someone older to ask..

I don't even know how to explain osawe, I was told Nosakhae has more to do with what God says.

As for the Igbo name, i haven't heard such name in Bini but literally translation would be Aghiakwe.

Who knows tomorrow == IMARENAKHUE. Unlike Onyemaechi and Yoruba TA NI MOLA, the Edo version is not a question but an assertion. It actually says I DO NOT KNOW TOMORROW.
