The Federal Government on Monday announced the removal of Engr. Akinwunmi Bada as managing director of Transmission Company of Nigeria.
He is to be replaced by Engr. Shola Akinniranye.
The Market Operator of TCN, Engr. Uzoma Achinanya as well as Executive Director, Human Resources of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Mr. Olushoga Muyiwa have also been retired.
Minister of Power, Prof Barth Nnaji, who made the announcement in Abuja after an extra-ordinary meeting with all the Chief Executives of the Transmission, Distribution and other Agencies under his ministry, alleged that despite Federal Government’s resolve to attain adequate power supply in the country, some elements in the PHCN and the TCN were sabotaging government’s efforts.
His words: “It is just a few people that are internally trying to tinker with the system. But we are in good shape. We are moving forward with that.”
According to the minister, the changes became necessary as part of the renewed efforts towards achieving effective power supply in Nigeria.
“There are some CEOs that have been changed. And we have the new ones we expect will be able to deliver on the government programme. Just a few people that are tinkering with the system but we are managing if not, nothing to worry about.”
He noted that by the new development, Engr. Akinniranye heads the TCN, while Engr. Evarestus Mogbo becomes the new Market Operator.
