The Scholar Sponsor programme is a post graduate sponsorship programme designed to provide an opportunity for young Nigerians to gain post graduate degrees in selected disciplines in top rated Universities in Europe and North America. The primary objective of the Scholar Sponsor programme is to invest in talented Nigerians who in turn be an asset to their Country.


Vision

To provide scholarship opportunities in specialist post graduate programs to young Nigerians through the Scholar Sponsor Programme. We aim to invest in young Nigerians who will become future assets to Nigeria, adding real value to the Nigerian economy.

Our goal is to aid the development of what is Nigeria’s greatest asset, its young dynamic population. Our vision extends beyond aiding our young people in their achievement of academic excellence. We also aim to expose them to advanced systems and cultures that will help them develop all their natural assets. We are in the business of producing, leaders and visionaries for a better Nigeria.


The Approach

We partner with some of Nigeria’s biggest businesses and top rated Universities in Europe and North America to provide the post graduate scholarship opportunities we offer. Our scholarship opportunities are open to a wide range of Nigerians as our selection criterion extends beyond academic qualifications. All our shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by a panel of experts before a final decision is made on selection.

The scholarships we offer cover the following:

* Student tuition fees
* Travel arrangement from Nigeria to their place of study and back
* Accommodation at their host institution
* Monthly stipend for upkeep, throughout the duration of the programme
* Medical insurance


Selection Criteria

* Show evidence of passion for value-added capacity building.
* Have no records that will deny them entry into the UK.
* Be a first degree holder; no less than 2:2 (second class lower)
* Not older than 40 years of age.
* Show evidence of commitment to put their enhanced education to the service of Nigeria upon completion of their studies.
* Be resident and a citizen of Nigeria.

Application closes on the 15th of June for the September 2012 Award. Don't know for sure which academic year the scholarship covers. You can be assured however, of full sponsorship throughout the duration of the programme (one year or 13 months, depending on the course or University).

People need to be careful then because scholarships are free, nothing like cost of submitting application. That N35,000 is not refundable and schorlarship is not guarantted meaning that thousands of people who will pay N35.000 will get nothing back while you smile to the bank

No UK or US school charges foriegn students for scholarship application, if i'm wrong give me just one school in the UK or US who charges foriegn students for scholarship application.

Let me also add that this is just fraud in progress, asking people to pay more than £100 into your bank account just for application is just ridiculous and i hope people stay far away from this because no single applicant will get the scholarship

I appreciate your fears of fraud (outright or in progress, lol). This is understandable, given the spate of fraud in this country.

I've been privileged to meet many of the people in Manemi Ltd (the company behind this initiative), including Professor Amoda (the board Chairman) himself. It's my personal conviction that they're not only sincere but definitely determined to see this through. I cannot say much on behalf of the company regarding the fee they're charging, the amount or why they even chose to charge a fee. You'd have to get in touch with them over this.

I don't know the details of their arrangement but I know enough to let you know that the partner Universities are NOT the ones providing the scholarship - the company (Manemi Ltd) here is. The Universities will be paid in full (perhaps they've offered cuts on their fees or some kind of concession to the company, I don't know).

I of course expect all interested to carry out their due diligence on the company (even pay a visit to their office in Anthony Village if you can) and the prof (pull up all you can about him).

Frankly, I think it laughable that one would set up some shady scheme and then come to Nairaland to promote it with a thread! I wasn't even asked (much less PAID) to start this thread. Its criminal to ask a poor Nigerian student to pay £139.606(N35.000) into a bank account of an individual for a scholarship they will not get.

Genuine scholarships have specific number of applicants they intend to award scholarship to, they don't ask everybody to apply and charge everybody application fees.

Tell me how many applicants should apply and the chances of them getting that scholarship.

1. You take the time to read all of my responses so far (as it appears you're out of points and keep posting recycled babble). I'll know when you read and understand them because they will reflect in what you say.
