Hello yanmata,

Thanks for your interest in the programme. I'm afraid the age limit is pretty rigid. But you can help by referring this to your contacts who fit the bill.

Thanks again!

Hello Tallest9,

Application closes on the 15th of June for the September 2012 Award. Don't know for sure which academic year the scholarship covers. You can be assured however, of full sponsorship throughout the duration of the programme (one year or 13 months, depending on the course or University).

Please head on over to their website for full details and free download of the application form - http://www.scholarsponsor.org

Hello justwise,

Yes, a processing fee of N35,000 is required to submit your application. See details here - http://www.scholarsponsor.org/index.php/how-to-apply/

Unfortunately, no. The partnering Universities require a University first degree as a minimum requirement.

People need to be careful then because scholarships are free, nothing like cost of submitting application. That N35,000 is not refundable and schorlarship is not guarantted meaning that thousands of people who will pay N35.000 will get nothing back while you smile to the bank

No UK or US school charges foriegn students for scholarship application, if i'm wrong give me just one school in the UK or US who charges foriegn students for scholarship application.

Let me also add that this is just fraud in progress, asking people to pay more than £100 into your bank account just for application is just ridiculous and i hope people stay far away from this because no single applicant will get the scholarship

Hello justwise,

I appreciate your fears of fraud (outright or in progress, lol). This is understandable, given the spate of fraud in this country.

I've been privileged to meet many of the people in Manemi Ltd (the company behind this initiative), including Professor Amoda (the board Chairman) himself. It's my personal conviction that they're not only sincere but definitely determined to see this through. There's a little background story to it which you can find here - http://www.scholarsponsor.org/index.php/the-idea-behind-the-scholarship-sponsor-project/

justwise:

I cannot say much on behalf of the company regarding the fee they're charging, the amount or why they even chose to charge a fee. You'd have to get in touch with them over this.

I don't know the details of their arrangement but I know enough to let you know that the partner Universities are NOT the ones providing the scholarship - the company (Manemi Ltd) here is. The Universities will be paid in full (perhaps they've offered cuts on their fees or some kind of concession to the company, I don't know).

I of course expect all interested to carry out their due diligence on the company (even pay a visit to their office in Anthony Village if you can) and the prof (pull up all you can about him).

very true, am on scholarship n i didnt pay a kobo for it

We both know not all scholarship programmes are the same smiley

justwise,

Firstly, I do not remember even implying the funds will be sent to me or that I am in any way one of the sponsors of the programme. I am not. Frankly, I think it laughable that one would set up some shady scheme and then come to Nairaland to promote it with a thread! I wasn't even asked (much less PAID) to start this thread. Like I said before, I'm doing this based on my own conviction having met the founders. cheesy

I'm not going to take offense at your casting aspersions as I'd probably be in the doubt about such a programme too, if I didn't know the people behind it. But being doubtful about something is one thing and making unfounded claims (or prophecy?) is another:

petres_007 you started this thread so its fair to assumed that you know more than enough about this bogus program, since you are so convinced to the point of starting this thread then you should be able to answer all the questions about this program.

The company behind this dodgy program is only interested in selling worthless forms that will not earn any applicant a scholarship, this is nothing new, many dubious individuals have done this here in NL before.

I hate it when i see people being taken advantage of, let me ask you this. . . how many applicants are you inviting to apply for this scholarship and will you accept payment after the scholarship have been given and verified?

No, it is not 'fair' to assume something I haven't implied in anyway. It appears you have the habit of not considering all options before making conclusions.

justwise:

petres_007[/b]since you are so convinced to the point of starting this thread then you should be able to answer all the questions about this program

My having started this thread even without their knowledge to spread word about the programme is more than enough proof of my confidence in it/them. You may want to enlighten us on how you arrived at the conclusion that I should be able to answer ALL questions about the programme, just because I started a thread to promote it in the little way I can.

justwise:

That this is not the first time peeps come up with stuff like this or that they all (or mostly) turned out to be fraudulent or did not go through does not automatically rule out ALL initiatives like it. Right here on this thread I've asked you and all interested to take the time and check the organisers/sponsors out as much as possible.

I mentioned in my OP, the name of the board chairman, Professor J.M. Amoda. Professors even in this country aren't nameless, faceless people you can hardly do background checks on. I'd expect you to at least start from there (or anywhere else you choose to) - just do something and quit this lazy arm-chair declarations you're making. Do something. Do some digging around. Provide facts (other than your paranoia) that show this programme to be fraudulent or its organisers to be not-trustworthy.

Pray, tell. Just whom have you seen taken advantage of?

Why don't you do something at least by getting in touch with the organisers by email, phone or going there in person (my preference)? They'll be in the best position to answer your questions.

It appears you have a phobia for doing your due diligence. This proves it.

Did you even bother to read the OP at all? Even a casual skim through would show that we cannot be the same person! I'm promoting a programme which he like you, is blindly condemning! How does that make us the same person?

The question one may ask is. . why are you promoting a program you don't know jack about? I don't need to call any professor to know that this is just a scam. If i call the 'professor' what do you expect him to tell me? That the program is fraud? Of course not, he will sell the idea just as you are doing here.

You started this thread without their knowledge and you are so convince about the program and people behind it but you refused to give any convincing answer to any question.

Let me say it again and again, no UK or US university charges foreign students for scholarship application, its FREE.

Its criminal to ask a poor Nigerian student to pay £139.606(N35.000) into a bank account of an individual for a scholarship they will not get.

Genuine scholarships have specific number of applicants they intend to award scholarship to, they don't ask everybody to apply and charge everybody application fees.

Tell me how many applicants should apply and the chances of them getting that scholarship.

In all my posts here justwise, how have I shown to not know 'jack' about the programme? And how do you know this is "just a scam"? Can you provide even a single fact to back up your claims? Or is this just another arm chair pronouncement?

justwise:
If i call the 'professor' what do you expect him to tell me? That the program is fraud? Of course not, he will sell the idea just as you are doing here.

I did not ask you to call the 'professor'. I did not give you his number, did I? Its obvious the reason for my stressing his being the board chairman is completely lost on you. Your even saying this here is quite laughable and goes to show you've not put any thoughts at all into this matter or. . . just not very smart. I won't waste more time offering any explanations as its obvious you're not after more information or sincerely trying to scrutinize the programme & its organisers.

justwise:

You started this thread without their knowledge and you are so convince about the program and people behind it but you refused to give any convincing answer to any question.

You see, white lies like this really put me off. It should be obvious to anyone reading through this thread that I have answered a couple of questions and pointed you to the programme website where you can request more details.

justwise:

Let me say it again and again, no UK or US university charges foreign students for scholarship application, its FREE.

I already addressed this issue. But obviously not 'convincing' enough for your fraud-busting highness. Here's my response to this:

petres_007:

How you arrive at these rubbish you seem to be effortlessly spewing out really beats me. I will not respond to your posts anymore unless:

1. You take the time to read all of my responses so far (as it appears you're out of points and keep posting recycled babble). I'll know when you read and understand them because they will reflect in what you say.

2. You quit your lazy, paranoia-driven arm-chair pronouncements and do some actual digging around - come up with something concrete. Show us good reason to discredit the programme or its organisers. I assure you I'll be at the forefront of the efforts to bring them to book!

Until then, I leave you to continue foaming at the mouth over something you won't so much as bother your mind, let alone move a finger.
