Guinness Nigeria plc, one of the foremost players in the alcoholic beverage sector of the economy has deepened competition in the beer segment with the re-introduction of Dubic Lager Beer into the local market.Dubic Lager Beer was a popular brand in Aba , the commercial hub of Abia State and the entire Southeast region, before it shut down production in 1998.The brewery was later acquired by Guinness Nigeria plc in 2003, which produced different brands of Guinness products, before it was also shut down.However, the reactivation of the factory and re-introduction of Dubic Lager Beer by Guinness Nigeria plc, has aroused a lot of interest from beer consumers in the area.
Presenting the new-look Dubic Lager Beer to Governor Theodore Orji and the Abia State Council of Elders at the Government House, Umuahia, Babatunde Savage, chairman, board of directors of Guinness Nigeria plc, affirmed that his company merely carried out the wish of the people, by reintroducing Dubic, their darling drink.According to Savage, people saw Dubic as their own product and we felt that if Guinness is going to be here, we need to start doing something that people want. And the result of that survey, which we did with our consumers, showed that our people here will like the product to come back.That beer you’ll remember was a household name in this State and beyond and we felt we should bring it back home. Although we have so many brands of products, this particular product is actually a citizen of this State and a mature product that has traveled and come back fully,” he affirmed. He explained that Dubic Lager Beer was produced with raw materials, which were actually obtained locally, stressing that it is a Nigerian beer, but brewed to international standards.It is actually a liquid with high quality and you can trace the ingredients to some of our greatest soils in the country. The packaging is unique and it is a great masquerade, which when it starts to dance, other masquerades bow,” Savage boasted.He described Dubic Beer as the brand of the people, which according to him would go places.It is a brand that we know that would go places and we also know that you’ll help us through word of mouth to also spread it, so that people would know that their darling Dubic Lager Beer is back and is here to stay,” Savage enthused.
