Hillary Clinton has been caught dancing and drinking in a bar called Havana while attending a summit of American nations - where the US banned Cuba from attending.

The US Secretary of State was snapped dancing with female aides and drinking from a beer bottle as Cuban music blasted in the venue in Cartagena, Colombia where leaders of 33 nations from North, Central and South America had gathered, reports Sky News.

"She looked like she was having a great time," one witness, who saw Mrs Clinton at the bar, said.

The US has enforced a trade embargo for more than 50 years with Cuba after Fidel Castro seized power in the Caribbean island.

However amid the economic restrictions Cuba has been able to flourish in some areas, and the CIA now admits the infant mortality in the capitalist US is more than 20% higher than on the communist island .

Mrs Clinton's decision to visit the Cuba-themed bar early on Sunday comes after a minor revolt among countries opposed to the US imposition of a summit ban against Cuba.
