last week friday ,there was a write up in the punch daily paper sating that a reduction in the number of states in the country probably through merging would reduce the cost of running the tiers of governments and money spent on other logistics and corruption in general ..... judgeing from the ethnic and other divitions that exists in the cpuntry i just dont know how this would be realised Nigeria is just too diverse and every one seems to be divided on ethnic backgrounds and rarely do you see and social group that's not composed on this line

true, really Nigeria should not have more than 6 states with each representing each geopolitical zones but a bit of adjustment in boundaries need to be done.

For example, all the states in the SE with part of delta, part rivers state and maybe benue should be a state etc

first of all, that why ethnic representation would be equal which is profitable in a multi-ethnic nation like Nigeria

2. Cost of governance has greatly reduce.

But of course the leaders would not allow this to occur because it means less money to be passed around.

But ideally Nigeria should not have more than 6-8 states.
