Kryko made an inaccurate back pass with the mind that only his teammates were in the spaced he lobed the ball to. The defender also had the same mind, but in addition saw Niang charging towards the ball like a bull. Due to some reason whatsoever, he decided to check with the referee first about correcting the anomaly before deciding to clear the ball. By the time he realized he made the wrong decision it was too late.

His line of action should've been

i) clear ball first and
ii)complain later

He should've done this despite sensing that something went amiss.

That's why I'd blame him more than Krycho.
