Why wouldnt he continue to praise the senior thug of Nigeria! Afterall he was able to use the man to achieve his aim of destabilising Oyo State during his devilish reign. He can called Adedibu anything as long as he doesnt call him my father. OBJ who, had he done well, should have been hob nobing with world leaders has now become so isolated that he now finds solace in mingling with the likes of Adedibu & co. What a shame!
Re: Obasanjo Says: Adedibu Is The Father Of Pdp by MT: 12:21pm On Nov 12, 2007
I'm absolutely gutted by this.

I strictly consider OBJ's comments to be an insult on all who Adedibu has tactically killed, physically destroyed and terribly maimed . I have much respect for OBJ but I guess he got this wrong.

Comment like that will only embolden this man that is playing god to continue to do what he knows best - VANDALISATION !.

Why should you guys be surprised. Do you think that PDP will have a gentle and a refined man as a father. A father who is a thug will have a thug as a son, A thief will begot a thief as a son. So am not surprised that the PDP today should have Adedibu as a father. There is no better word to describe PDP than Adedibu son.
Re: Obasanjo Says: Adedibu Is The Father Of Pdp by chidichris(m): 3:49pm On Nov 12, 2007
this is not a thread. obj had said things more implicating in the past so why raising eyebrow over calling adedibu the father of pdp.
it is obvious many of us here are just beging to find reasons why iweala had to go while adedibu remains.
it is obvious now that whosoever obj and his group praise is evil and whosoever the condem is clean.
for me, obasanjo can never be a propare noun that is if am convienced that he is a noun.
kalu once mentioned it that obj is suffering from old age. deminishing returns is begining to manifest in his reasoning and soon he will be talking and behaving like a little boy but the most unfortunate thing is that he is not ready to let go the material things of the country and he never get tired of rulling and stealing.
the most unfortunate thing is that such man adedibu existed in a tenure that was fighting corruption and today he is existing in a country where the rule of law is in -charge.
what a shame?

What is wrong in saying someone is the father of PDP. People are so critical of OBJ. Don't we practice democracy?

One of the characteristics of democracy id freedom of speech and association. so OBJ can call or say what ever he wants. its up to us to dissect the information how ever we want.

Including seemingly senseless rantings?

Re: Obasanjo Says: Adedibu Is The Father Of Pdp by Mamajama(m): 4:32pm On Nov 12, 2007
I think everyone is free to say what ever he wants. What can OBJ benefit from Adedibu at this time? NADA.

How do we actually know OBJ said this words? Sun paper a big critics of OBJ published this gibberish how can we trust Nigeria media?

There are better problems That Nigerians need to focus on rather than an utterance by OBJ

Comments like these are part of the problems of Nigeria

And you can not under-estimate it.

While I admire OBJ's govt, I think at this point in time OBJ should be appologising to Nigerians on his choice of politics in Oyo and Anambra.
And if he keeps on making comments like these he is simply arming the IBB camp in the so called IBB vs OBJ war on the politics of PDP.

And Mamajama the Nigerian media is not only unreliable when they report News that you dont want to hear.
God knows whether you expect BBC to report that OBJ thinks "Adedibu is father of PDP"

This is another clear spectrum that differentiate true leaders from honorary leaders.

After all what Ibadan people had gone through or continue to go through on a daily basis, the appropriate speech from OBJ is to praise this nightmare.
It is amusing and also shows what leadership role in Nigeria is all about.

Absolutely a wrong message.

The news was in published in most Nigerian newspapers yesterday not only the sun. But anything against OBJ Mamajama is always quick to discredit.

But if he hears that OBJ is the awaited Messiah he would come and post online even if the source is a palm wine joint.

One of the problem is when govt overtly encourage gangsterism and thuggery then which better problems are you talking about?

@ Mamajama,

this is from punch today

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday came under strong criticism for describing a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, as ”the only father of the PDP.”
Obasanjo, during his visit to the politician in Ibadan on Sunday, was quoted as saying that Adedibu, as the father of the PDP, could not be looked down on.

A former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, in a telephone interview said if Obasanjo could describe a person like Adedibu as the father of the PDP, it shows that he has no respect for his party.

”You should not be surprised if he chooses such a person as his father. It confirms his contempt for the PDP,” Musa said.

When contacted on the telephone, Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, simply said, ”Oro pesi je,” (It is beyond words). Nobody can comment on that. It is beyond what we can comment on.”

In its reaction, the Action Congress in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described the former president‘s comment as insensitive, reckless and saddening.

The party said Obasanjo‘s continuous glorification of Adedibu, despite the latter‘s penchant for anarchic and divisive politics was worrisome.

It said Obasanjo‘s description of Adedibu as the ‘father of PDP‘ was the greatest disserve anyone could do to a ruling party that is already weighed down by a garrison mentality, senseless killings and do-or-die politicking.
Re: Obasanjo Says: Adedibu Is The Father Of Pdp by olanajim(m): 5:49pm On Nov 13, 2007
Obj needs Adedibu and his wealth of Bolekaja politics at this period. What with the power moving to the north and threat to his BOT chairmanship? What with his political influence being eroded gradually? He need foot soldiers who can do the dirty job for him. He may not agree in his own man that Adedibu is pdp father. But like true Machiavelian, he needs to praise the devil to seven heaven, give him palm oil, and pay homage to him. The devil would then mobilize his power to help him.

Once he had the power he labour for on his shoulder, devil may rot. To the power hungary politician, the end justify the mean.

What else do you expect from him?
He is no more relevant in the scheme of things in the World and more so in Nigeria.
Man of Yesterday.

Birds of same feather fli together.

Not a statement from a true leader; more or less like a vindictive statement to undermine the progress and unity of Ibadan people.

Leadership role is not for everyone.

forward thinking nigerians who have been following obj's public speeches would have come to the realisation that the dude is not a good public speaker. on countless occassions he's been caught out by reporters' questions, and he more or less gets carried away in his speeches often injecting doses of pidgin and yoruba thinking it's humorous. maybe this was one of his fluke days, too much amala and fanta perhaps hyped him up and for lack of anything interesting to say he chipped in the bombshell.
