Police Create Code Of Conduct For Officers by Nobody: 6:06am On May 03, 2012
The Nigeria Police Force has established a
code of conduct which members of the force
are expected to abide by in and out of duty.
The acting Inspector General of Police, IGP
Mohammed made the disclosure yesterday
in an interactive session with journalists
where he warned the officers and men that
they must conform to the code of conduct
whether they were on duty or not.
The IG who was pointed out that he was
determined to create a people-friendly
police force said that the war against
criminals and criminality would not be won
without the right synergy between the people
and the police
“Our intention is to create a people-friendly
police force that would respect the citizenry
and properties; a force well trained and
managed. There is a serious disconnect
between the police and the people in terms
of management of information and handling
cases.
“We have created a code of conduct for the
Nigerian Police. Whether the officer is on
duty or off duty once you’re a police officer”,
Abubakar said.
The IG who reacted to the threat by Boko
Haram on media houses said he had ordered
all his commissioners of police to reinforce
security in the media houses and urged
media houses not yet covered by the police
security to approach the commissioner of
police.
