Someone told me about winhost. Haven't used them though. Must it be windows based hosting? LAMP is way cheaper like N2500 for a 1yr standard

Wow! Eight pages of ideas and arguments and not a single application?!

But seriously, I wish I'd come across this thread earlier. Predicting power outage? Come on! Systems like that are built into the power plants themselves. If the government and it's contractors can't fix that, what makes you think a group of resourceless geeks will. weather prediction apps are only possible because the data gatherers who own the hardwares release a public API. Advocating such a release in Nigeria, well, is like us going to the moon. We can argue that it's possible but, ehn...

It's not like we dont have great programmers in Nigeria and therefore can't make our lives easier by building a usable epayment system. It's just that our government dosent like progress. Heck, have you seen the regulations requirements for building such platform?! it's like the government saying, we want to look like we want local companies to rise, but honestly, we dont. smiley couple that with the fact that we all want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg - male and female alike.

By the way, can nairaland webmasters fix this reply box for tablet typing?! Thanks.

Most of the work on this has been done here www.iwatchlive.org and yourbudgit.com
Probably we can join hands on these.

Well yes and no....
Yes cos i've not been communicating and directing things as i should have.
No cos there are certain issues i have to deal with in my private life. Still working on it though....

I uploaded kobo's code to the github page long ago.

If the owners would let us, no problem.

How did I mess up? By suggesting that people contribute individually to the success of a project?

@Azed, are we to assume at this point that you are not up to the task? Please let me know so I know what steps to take next. Thanks.

If a full budget app/site is too much of a goal (or budgit or others already do it too well),
you could just turn the existing excel files into csvs and put it up at CSV49 (github.com/olibenu/csv49).

CSV49 forgives you for wasting productive human hours reinventing the wheel provided you prevent the next developer from doing the same.

The data:
+If it took your time and can take that of others.
+If it won't change anytime soon or get obsolete in the next second.
+If it is Nigerian.
Then by all means, put it up!

We already have
CSV1: States codes and geopolitical zones by @olibenu
CSV2: Geopolitical zones by @olibenu
CSV3: States, LGAs and Geolocation by @kehers
CSV4: GSM Network Providers Phone Number Prefixes by @olibenu and @pystar
