Number Plates, Drivers’ Licence: Senate Slashes Price. Is It Worth It? by stEngima: 8:21am On May 11, 2012
Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs has slashed the price for new number plates from N15, 000 to N8, 400.
Daily Sun exclusively reported on Tuesday that the Senate would reduce the new price regime for motorists.

New drivers’ licence has also been reduced from N6, 000 being charged by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to N4, 000. Early in the year, the National Assembly ordered the FRSC to stop issuance of the new drivers’ licence and plate numbers. In the committee’s report presented to the Senate yesterday, the Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta-led committee recommended that N8, 400 should be paid for standard motor vehicles plate number to the end user.

This is a bit considerable IMHO...but what actually is the purpose of the new plate number?

My question is, 'Are we still going to replace the current plate numbers on our vehicles as i cannot see this in the write up? Also, what about the supposed security feature issue or was it all a ruse?
