However, I was born in Nigeria and left at a very young age. My parents were from different states. I'd like to claim both of their homelands as my own, but instead, Naija culture leaves me to side with my dad (which I think is extremely marginalizing - but that remains a topic for later discussions, ). I still can't completely identify with Anambra State, my father's side, because I was born in my mother's state, Imo. All my family here in the U.S. are maternal relatives. I am surrounded by Imo people, thus I am from IMO STATE!!
