I don't believe the story one bit. A particular journalist might have been rejected. No government can afford to be hostile to journalists generally as you need them to kill bad news and of course for propaganda purposes.

So, the job of special advisers on Media and Publicity to large extent is to forge good relationship with the press and manage the image of the president. By the way, many sensitive meetings are closed door, i.e without the presence of journalists, so what's the point in sending them away when you can simply declare such meeting a closed door?

Jonathan pledges full support for journalists

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured journalists in the country that they will enjoy utmost freedom and constitutional rights more than ever before under his administration.

The president made the pledge while speaking at the opening ceremony of the national delegate’s conference of the Nigerian Union of Journalists pledged to have nothing to do with anyone who breaches the rights of journalists in the country.

He called on the media to put the interest of the nation first as well as rise above manipulations by politicians.

He requested members of the fourth estate of the realm to cross check their facts before publication and also to be mindful of those who use the media to promote their selfish interests.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Transforming Societies through Media Freedom.’

National officers for the union will be elected at the conference which will have 846 delegates participating in.

42 members are contesting the various national offices of the union.

Aso Rock events are generally about GEJ receiving ambassadors, Abati making announcements and other such boring stuff.
I don't see what the big deal is.

Why institute a blancket ban,if there's a private TV station that has erred, that one can be blacklisted for a time na.

But blancket ban
