I reside in Edo state. How come it was not on local television stations? But my general appeal to everybody is: lets not drag any political party into this. |

We should not over heat the polity and create unnecessary panic with this tuberculosis issue. Veterinarians at the ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources owe it as a responsibility to enlighten the general public on public health matters. The said carcass was seen during normal routine meat inspection at the abattoir. The ministry decided to use the case to enlighten the public on tuberculosis and the need while people should buy meat from sources where meat inspection service are available. The Observer captured the story in its' front page. For other news agencies to change the story just in an attempt to get people to read with the caption "Tuberculosis Infested Beef in Circulation in the Edo State" is the height of journalistic irresponsibility and recklessness. NUJ should please caution its member on the need to be very professional in their news reportage. |
