Please tell all the tribalists claiming yorubas don't love M.K.O Abiola: "You do not kill a good thing to honour a good thing". UNILAG has and will always bring honour to Nigeria. Why kill it?

How about we rename Nigeria after Abiola? Would you begin to comprehend the meaning and effect of GEJ's action then?

You should have said. "Why UNILAG should remain UNILAG", not "MUST"

Also, you ended up not stating your reasons. If you consider your "kill a good thing to honour a good thing" theory as a reason then you have to go back to your meditations.

As for renaming Nigeria, Abiola Republic, it is very very funny. I am still laughing. You could have suggested naming University of Abuja after Abiola, but that of renaming Nigeria after him? Ah! No kill person with jokes ooo.

If GEJ refuses to dis embarrass himself, another government in 2015 will restore the dignity, integrity and nobility of the name of the University of Lagos.

@noblezone: The Title was deliberately chosen to get people to read, especially the nairaland tribalists. Secondly, The renaming Nigeria suggestion was an attempt to help @dilifred understand why renaming institutions arbitrarily and needlessly is bad. Lastly, Na you know who give you "Abiola republic" suggestion.

PS: My "supposed theory" also stands as a reason. Perhaps not for the title but as a reason why President Jonathan must think seriously of his action. He is trying to use the achievements, reach and status of UNILAG to honor Abiola and doing it in a way that harms the very identity by which the institution has contributed to the nation.
