If it were Nigeria it will be Oxford University they will rename. We have no sense of proportionality. All our public spaces are named after crooks, criminals and individuals that ruined this nation. We use first, middle and last names to name streets. Note it is Elizabeth towers. In Nigeria it will be Queen Elizabeth II Towers. That is how we got to the hideous Moshood Abiola University instead of just say Abiola University which is bad enough. We are strange people in this Nigeria

Please stop comparing what happened there in the UK with what happened last week in Nigeria. If you look at her record, you will more than know that the Queen has not been just a figure-head in that country. She has, in her 75 years of serving as head figurehead of the UK grin, made significant contributions to that society, among others.

That is my point. With all she has achieved all she gets is a tower named after her. If it were Nigeria they would name the city of London itself Elizabeth City. We have no sense of proportionality.

Actually, Big Ben is still named Big Ben. It is Clock Tower that has been renamed Elizabeth Tower.

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London,[1] and is generally extended to refer to the clock or the clock tower (officially known simply as Clock Tower) as well.

On 2 June 2012, The Daily Telegraph reported that 331 Members of Parliament, including senior members of all three main parties, supported a proposal to rename the Clock Tower to 'The Elizabeth Tower' in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.[14]
