I want to make a few recommendations for those who want to build a real relationship with the Quran this ramadan. The Quran offers us practical counsel and advice for real life situations. Make it a part of your life.

1. Try to listen/read a good tafseer (commentary) of the Quran.. I would recommend:

a. Audio podcasts at http://bayyinah.com/

I think this is best audio resource of the Quran in good english. The tafseers are given by Nouman Ali Khan and Abdul Nasir Jangda

b. "pondering over the Quran" (Taddabbur i Quran ) by Amin Ahsan Islahi

Brilliant book: Some of it has been translated to English;;; I have read parts of it.... Juz Amma and Surah Fatiha have been translated here http://www.amin-ahsan-islahi.com/?se=35

c. Maariful Quran by Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Shafi (Rahimahullah): I haven't read this but it is highly recommended:

2. For those who only want to read translations but find it difficult to read translations...

The Quran A new translation by M. A. S. ABDEL HALEEM (Oxford press) is highly recommended because of the simple language....

3. Memorise more of the Quran and have an indepth understanding of the ayahs you memorise. It would transform your experience in salah and the whole of your life.

- Memorise an ayah everyday after fajr....

Nice one, given that we as human beings are always struggling with some aspects of our lives everytime. The period of Ramadan is a good opportunity to be calm and appraise our spirituality. Herein, these podcasts by Yasmin Mogahed come in really useful:

I've downloaded quite a few on my mobile devices and listen to them while commuting and lounging..
