Smarting from the Dana disaster, it appears nothing has changed and no lessons learnt. Here is a passenger’s experience just minutes ago:

Boarded Arik Flight W3 127 from Lagos to Abuja. The flight was supposed to depart Lagos 9:15am but it was delayed and we finally left quarter past 10.

I must say we had a smooth flight until we got to Abuja. The plane commenced descent but we later heard the captain that he couldn’t land in Abuja because the airport is closed due to VIP Movement.

Everyone on board was scared and we started asking ourselves why they would close the airport because of few VIPs while a passenger plane would be denied landing privilege.

My brother we were all scared after the captain’s announcement. We spent up to 25mins hovering before we finally landed.

Is it fair that after the Dana tragedy, to subject citizens to this sort of traumatic experience.

We thank God for His mercies!

Passenger on the Arik Flight

PS: This of course is no fault of the airline but those we all call “rulers”

Cities like Abuja and Lagos should have separate air force bases where the presidential jet would take off and land.

No flight should take off if the destination airport would be closed due to VIP movement.

Citizens shouldn't have to go through this.

You most hand over all airport to state.. It is the only way to stop terrorist in Nigeria.

People are going to be able to bomb up plane if the federal govt control the airport. period.

This is why all over the world. State control the airport.

You do not want people who have evil intention work in airport.

And this is why the Nigeria airport are the most unsafe airport in the world. As long as the federal govt control airport in Nigeria. The airport are security nightmare.

state most control airport before the airport in Nigeria would ever be safe. It will remove monoploy of international travel in Nigeria/

And all the passengers came down from the flight and went about their daily businesses and we expect change to happen just like that! E go tae!!

Imagine for a moment the passengers decided to picket the whole airport on their arrival, choose to sue the aviation authorities afterwards and raised effective awareness about the risk they had to undergo because of some VIPs, the next time such an order has to be given, the authorities would think twice.

Nigeria is as it is because the citizens love to talk nonsense and watch premier league. When we get serious, change would start happening.

What rubbish! I have always blamed our careless worries about serious issues. Nigerians are well known at taken shit and its water. They got out of the plane and headed of into Abuja without a violet protest. Ah! Nigerians! We are really fools. No wonder they loot us senselessly. Mtschewww
