This is the outcome of gross indiscipline in the country. EVERYTHING IS LOOSE. Corruption thrives as if it is a religion. Boko Haram is succeeding because the society is lawless.

Govt needs to wake up to its responsibility.

Gunmen believed to be a detachment of the Boko Haram sect attack a boarding high school

Reports reaching us indicate that gunmen have invaded the Federal Government College in Kano, Kano state. The gunmen numbering about ten entered the school premises Monday night with sporadic gunshots, despite a downpour, targeting college students in their hostels.

Details of the attack is still very sketchy but witnesses say that as at 9.00 p.m., the attack was still going on.

Kano state police commissioner, Ibrahim Idris, could not be reached for comments as he did not answer or return calls.

A resident however said a detachment of the Joint Task Force had arrived the school to chase the attackers away.

We are unable to confirm casualty and extent of the damage at this point.

No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

I hope and pray that the students are safe without loss of life or injury.

Boko haram is becoming increasingly cowardly as the noose tightens; they can no longer attack UN buildings etc, but have taken to attacking children at school and other easy targets. It is hard to understand the kind of beast that would do such.

It is in times like this that one is forced to question the relevance of paramilitary outfits like the Hisbah, which has of late has taken to running match making programs for divorcees and widows.

I'd even go as far to suggest that the hopelessness of this group in the face of continuous assault by BH, knocks any argument for a state-police force squarely on its head.
