The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, appeared in office in a chieftaincy garb on Wednesday because workers persuaded him to do so, the bank’s spokesman said on Thursday.

On Friday last week, Sanusi was turbaned the Dan Maje Kano by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
Some national newspapers published a photograph of Sanusi in his chieftaincy regalia with some bank officials at the bank’s corporate headquarters in Abuja on Monday.

But CBN spokesman Ugo Okoroafor said the apex bank’s governor was “not on duty” the day he appeared in office in the regalia.

He said, “For the avoidance of doubt we want to use this medium to state that the CBN Governor was on a short break, and was not on duty on the said day.

“Malam Sanusi flew into Abuja after the ceremony and when staff got wind of his presence they persuaded him to pass through the office so that they could see the new Dan Maje.”

Some people said the picture was a fake, because it was the governor's office in Kano, not the CBN. So, the 'workers' pressured the mallam to dune his ridiculous looking attire and come to the office? What else did the workers pressure the governot to do? To donate money to Kano blast victims while ignoring others?
