Lawan is a pretty smart guy and knows what he is doing. HARD PHYSICAL EVIDENCE IS CRUCIAL FOR PROSECUTION. Lawan already knows he is in trouble, whether he produces the money or not, it will not change or do any good to his tarnished image. However, if he decides to produce the money, it would be used as an exhibit to prosecute him in court. Any one who understands how the law and judicial system works, if you are accused of taking a bribe and you produced or refund the exact amount of money you were accused of taking, you will be convicted instantly as there is no case, as it is prima facie. However, if they are unable to find the money, in spite of the video tape showing him taking the money, there is still reasonable doubt to convict him for bribery. I know this might sound tricky for a lame person who looks at this from a non judicial standpoint - we have a tape showing him taking the money - yes, but where is the money? This is very much similar to a murder case, a murderer can walk into a convenient shop, the security surveillance camera shows him with a gun, he shots an employee, he flees and hides the gun. I can tell you that if they are unable to recover the murder weapon to link it to the murder, he would unlikely get a death penalty, in some rare instances he could be set free because THERE ISN'T ANY MURDER WEAPON TO LINK HIM TO THE MURDER OR TO SHOW THAT THIS IS THE WEAPON USED IN THE MURDER. Same principle applies here, the Police task force and state prosecutors handling the investigation are working so hard to recover the funds, why? Because they know how the judicial system works and will need the money first to verify the claim that the the money given to Lawan was a marked money. I can tell you that Lawan and his lawyers know the game and will never release the money. Mark my words!

Keep smoking poo.

Using common sense, how much do you think can be hidden under his cap? And how much is he accused of keeping in his possession?
Re: Otedola/Lawan $620K Bribery Scandal Probe Hits Dead End by Nobody: 9:41am On Jun 28, 2012
This seems like a plot against GEJ cause the way facrook is going about this case it seems is a planned deal to indict the presidency but I have some few questions for facurook or woteva his name is.
1. Why did you denied that you ever collected bribe from otedola and later agreed that you collected it to expose him(aboki brain)

2. The money you agreed you collected from otedola where is the money? Provide it then we can give a listening ear to wot you will say,

3. Why include GEJ in your mess, otedola has all the money to bribe you and we know it so why seek for funds from the presidency to bribe you.

Infact farook you are just a slowpoke and I once taught dat there was something gud in that your small head but I now realize that is as empty as a drum. I know you have used the money to sponsor boko haram and that's why you can't provide it, just wait soon u go hear am for ya head

MacLovington: It is now clear that Nigeria as it is has no future. I never thought the day would come when I would prefer a military government. Who knows, Nigeria might just be lucky to have a benevolent dictator.

All these pieces of poo have to be liquidated and start on a clean sheet.

Enough of this idiotic docility.

Assuming there is a Military Coup and the leader happens to be an Igbo or Ijaw General. There will still be the same opposition based on tribal or religious affiliation, so shove that military idea as it is a death sentence to this entity called Nigeria.

Farouk, the son of Lawan, is a thief period! Whether he collected the money as bribe or he wanted to use it as an evidence to nail Otedola, the fact still remains,he collected the money and his is in possession of such money. Why has he refused to surrender the money?
Why did he move motion to remove Zenon oil and Gas from the list of companies indicted by the probe committee?
Why did he deny taking money from Otedola initially, when news was first broken?

Initially,I stated this man would have a reason for whatever he did; questions now arising:
1. Why are other legislators not willing to answer to the police summons?
2. Why is the SSS proving uncooperative, forget about the balderdash opinion that the I.G is still acting?
3. How can the evidence be at large till now?
4. Why is the video not available for public access? I remember Al-Mustapha's tape of Diya begging for his life did not take a week to be released on National TV.

Like I commented on another thread, you just cannot trust the f.g to take issues that need urgent attention seriously, sad!

This is a clear signal that Nigeria's system of governance is nothing to write home about.
Every level of the government is decayed by corruption.
I pray there will be something left for the next generation to govern.[color=#006600]

SSS is always taking the risk to acquire evidents and faccilitate arrest of culprits, but the Police will always set the culprits free without any legal backings....Again, The police jealous SSS' working conditions and allowance, so, let them go and get exhibits to help them do the investigation, since its easy ....WHY SHOULD THE SS GIVE THEM ANY ASSITANCE AGAIN IN THIS MATTER?

Then let the SSS conduct the investigation and let them hand over the suspects to EFCC for prosecution, this is a case of economic sabotage. More actions should be visible!

If Farouk walks free it is SQUARELY on the head of the police. Period. They have the authority so why are they still using kids gloves on congressional members? This is a simple criminal case, someone took bribe and even confessed, and now they are begging him to return the bribe money? We should learn whose head to apply pressure to.

Ita Ekpeyong (Director General of SSS)
Mohammed Abubakar (Inspector General of Police) because the police has handled and is handling this issue very poorly.
Mohammed Bello Adoke (Attorney General of the Federation) because he is meant to be defending the law on behalf of a government we elected

These are the people we should be protesting at not house of assembly. This is a criminal case. Any possible protest at house of assembly should be about oil subsidy report or legislation.
Re: Otedola/Lawan $620K Bribery Scandal Probe Hits Dead End by Beaf: 3:04pm On Jun 28, 2012
One thing is certain; NOBODY would ever give the police vital evidence before the court case, they are not the prosecuting lawyers. What do they want the evidence for?
Is it not the same police that actually allowed Farouk to leave his cell and go home to bath and sleep? angry

The police do not need the evidence for any reason. Whenever the AGF brings the matter to court, that will be it. Until then, newspapers that specialise in high drama and fabrication of news would make a killing publishing dramatic nonsense.

I'll also mention that it is the SSS the provides court evidence in boko haram matters, not the police.
If educated people can go with this story, then Nigeria has big problems indeed. What is wrong with some of us Nigerians? embarassed

Listen fellow Nigerians!.

If at the end of this whole drama Farouk is not Jailed then you owe no loyalty to any fcking country called Nigeria. Stop complaining!.

This is how Shagari wanted the country.

This is how Buhari wanted the country.

This is how Babangida wanted the country.

This is how Abacha wanted the country.

This is how OBJ wanted the country.

This is how Yaradua wanted the country.

And this is how Jonathan wants the country.

E.t.c, Name them.

Do yourselves a favour by being as corrupt as you can until such a time corruption becomes punishable in Nigeria (not likely though).
Nigeria is going nowhere!.

Lets not even forget that there are several policemen in detention already over corruption in handling the Farouk saga.
The $620,000.00 is definitely working hard on the police force. angry

I genuinely understand the sentiment because we can't keep having on set of laws for one set of people and another set of laws for the rest. But what I will say though is that if Farouk doesn't end up in jail, it is the fault of Nigerian people. Because to me after years of this nonsense it would prove an insult too far. How can somebody confess to taking bribe and walk free? At least before there used to be an attempt at lying but if this goes without any serious punishment then I really don't know where we go from here. So to me it's make or break (along with fuel subsidy) but sometimes you get the feeling you are the lone voice in that reasoning . . . . I am definitely tired of the insult on sensibilities. If Nigerians don't demand justice then they deserve none.

fankasibe: Hw on earth can a group of selfish elite treat us like fools....i swear, this issue was just a decoy in distracting attention from d fuel subsidy scam.....NIGERIA i weep for u. sad

I don't think anybody is taking Nigerians for fools as much as several Nigerians themselves actively participate in foolishness on a daily basis.

Firstly, in how many bribery cases has the bribe money been provided as evidence? I don't remember any, yet people in Nigeria have been sent to jail for bribery. How many cases of theft have the stolen item displayed as evidence? Don't you think it would be foolish for a judge to dismiss a theft case (when there is video evidence) simply because the stolen item has been sold?

The news article itself is abysmally daft; but going by many of the posts on this thread, I fear for many of us too.
