we are not sayin Ekiti is like lagos or abuja, neither is it like PH, all we are sayin is that overall, it's not a bad state to serve in. As compared to the states which were created along with it in 1996 i.e ebonyi, nasarawa, etc ekiti rates high.

Specialist900: I'm currently servin at Ekiti and i'm not regretin any part of it. It might not have been what some pple desired but we are all supposed to adapt. Ekiti state might not b rich as compared to other states but they are still better off than some.

Until i got to Ekiti before i knew pipe-borne water still existed in Nigeria, 24hrs pipe water, electricity is good (might not b all over the state) but in my LGA and a few i've been to it like 18hrs or more daily. Students even respect corpers more than they do to their teachers.

Incomin corp members, dont be afraid, its not as bad as its painted here, come with an open mind and u'll sure enjoy ur stay.


N.B other LGA are better off for corpers than the state capital (ado-ekiti).

LOL. Am not angry in any way. I'm just trying to dispel the notion or the grim picture you're painting about Ekiti in here. There's no point arguing back and forth. I'd say let the corp members go see for themselves. Whatever they can make of it is left to them. I say good luck to y'all once again. By the way, the orientation camp is in Ise'Ekiti. When you get to Ado Ekiti, just drop or tell the driver you're going to Old Garage. There, you'll get buses to take you to Ise'Ekiti. Don't know the bus fare though. (I should visit Ekiti myself soon jor). Have fun!

most people like ado-ekiti because its "more developed".however electricity is poor and its quite more epensive than other places.if you want constant electricity and like to cook your own meals,i'd advise a place like ekiti-west or ilawe.in ekiti-west,there's almost 20hrs electricity daily.at least while i was there.most of the apartments in ekiti dont have good toilets even in ado ekiti.most of them have pit latrines and some dont even have any.i remember visiting afao-ekiti and i had to go a long way to a hotel to relieve myself.social life is the same almost everywhere.even ado has just 2 nite clubs,one at pathfinder and one other one.however,ikogosi in ekiti-west has the warm spring and a nice swimming pool and barbeque joint.there's also a waterfall at ipole-iloro also in ekiti-west which at the time was been given a facelift by the government.as for accesibility,the worst roads were in ado,but i hear the fayemi administration has done a good job.

ekiti people are nice.i have friends who lived in free apartments,one of my friends got dinner of pounded yam,egusi soup laden with bushmeat and 4 litres of fresh palmwine every day from his landlord.there are also some communities which are eempted from converging for weekly CDS due to distance.if you're lucky to be in such like i was,your week ends on wednesday and you are free to till your next work day.i used to travel every wednesday after school to return on monday morning.

I served in ekiti for a whole year, in that one year I was constantly being victimized at work, experienced a terrible robbery by cultists, lost all I had worked for, got hacked in the arm, required 9stitches, no compensation, nothing. The scar is there, keeps reminding me of my ill-fated sojourn into the land of the ekitis. Not even a visit from my Z.I while I was in the hospital. I gathered the pieces of my life together, still undertook a community development project, designed a college website for a sec sch and trained the students in desktop publishing, no sponsors, nufn. I funded it all by myself. In the end all I got was a bloody certificate of commendation, still expecting the prize money (30k) promised us (myself and 10 others that did oda projects) several months after passing out.
Now how the hell do you want me to feel about ekiti and its people after all these? Fcuz its all just a personal opinion afterall but I'm still very much entitled to it. Just don't want any of these new guys to be under any illusions that ekiti is sum paradise cuz it aint.
