Some tv stations in Nigeria do not transmit for 24 hours,e.g OSRC,OSBC , e.t.c.

Can somebody explain the reasons why they don't transmit round the clock.

They don't have the capacity to do that. Many of them have very few programmes, so it's not cost effective for them to go the whole 9 yards.

alot my friend.it is not everyone dat sleep at nite especially those that do night duty.it keeps them busy when they are idle

Many factors are responsible. (1) u as a person cnt keep a vigil on smtin local. (2) as a local channel na so so obituary dem dey anounce, u no go fit compare obito to documentary on CNN. 3) no diesel. 4) DSTV

NTA Enugu broadcasts for 18hrs. 6am to 12am

Since the advent of local TV stations, people have been quite informed about the incidents happening around their vicinity or country as a whole; they could as well see the live or virtual videos of the scenarios. However, power interruption has contributed immensely to the steady progress of our local TV stations.

Unequivocally, it is generally accepted that our power supply has a lot of glitches probably due to the less-incessant government support, lack of management, and unavailability of investors' interests in the power sector of our economy. Curiously, it is highly recommended that we question this issue and understand the solution that will be proffered towards this menacing factors. Government should encourage the local media, people, by providing them with a selfless support, financially and morally. Moreover, there must be a litigation insisting the accuracy and terrific contribution from the managerial aspect of the power sector. Also, there should be a great awareness as regards luring the investors by emphasizing on the power sectors investment merits.

Interestingly, despite the fact that our power sector is not that reliable, there must be a sufficient alternative for our local media; usage of direct current sources are abound- Generators, solar power sources,etc. They should be able to utilize this whenever there is disruption in electricity.

In conclusion, in as much as our local media are ensuring that proper, enlightening information are held out to the mass in time, they should be savvy about the crucial importance of electricity and its sources, so there will be a reduction if not zilch of electricity break.

na true talk oh even for delta,at least 5 obito and 3 church programme a day. how many of our local tv(not selected states e.g Lagos) are on satellite tv?,why is channels tv restricted to dstv when we have other pay tv.

24hrs broadcasting is only useful when you are on satellite and you are being watched by viewers across different time zones. It makes no sense for local stations. Except if you people want to watch tv in your dream as I earlier said.

@op don't think that u living in 9ja, those local station how many commercials or income are they generating to sustain them is it not government that found them, they can't even afford to fuel generators without electricity that's why most close @ 10pm including some NTA stations. Its not easy to run a TV station 4 24hrs without generating much income.

NTA Aba operates 24 hours.

People wer d broadcast dem no go slip?...because as d stations no get d moni to d change shift na one person go d on duty from morning to nite n u want make e come d from nite to morning....even if na u sef...

...That's because they believe It's only ghosts that watch tv during midnight, when everyone else is sleeping... Lolz.. Just kidding.. Gone are the days when they even go on break in the afternoon.. At 12:00pm and come back on air at about 2-3pm..
