Anasko:
The Executive Secretary of Kaduna State Primary Health Care Agency, Dr Hadiza Abubakar-Balarabe, may emerge as the running mate of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai in the 2019 elections, barring any last-minute change.
The state deputy governor, Arc Barnabas Yusuf Bala, announced recently that he won’t be El-Rufai’s running mate again and has since clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Kaduna Southern Senatorial District.
Dr Hadiza, a Numana by tribe, hails from Gwantu, Sanga local government area, in the southern part of the state.
El-Rufai’s spokesman Samuel Aruwan could not be reached for comment.

But insiders told Daily Trust that the medical doctor, who is currently attending a conference in Kenya, “was summoned yesterday by Governor El-Rufai over the same issue.”
If picked as a running mate and elected, Dr Hadiza will be the second female deputy governor of the state after Mrs Pamela Sadauki.
She’s a trained medical consultant on public health and primary health care. She obtained her MBBS from the University of Maiduguri in 1988.
She worked as a public health consultant, public health physician, Federal Capital Territory Primary Health Care Board, and director public health, Federal Capital Territory Administration.

this same new deputy governor that want to emerge is a muslim likewise his principal too. so far so good, kaduna state governance are always zoning the deputy governorship seat to a chriatian candidate. this is not fair at all. elrufai should not embark on this journey on muslim/muslim ticket. this is very bad.

Politics / Okorocha , Yari, Amosun Lose Out As APC Submits List Today by activistjohnny(m): 8:08am On Nov 02, 2018
There were indications yesterday that the governors of Imo, Zamfara and Ogun States, Rochas Okorocha, Abdulazeez Yari and Ibikunle Amosun may have finally lost out in the power game playing out in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is just as the party is set to submit the list of governorship candidates for the 2019 general election to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has adopted Senator Hope Uzodinma as the party’s governorship candidate for Imo state against the incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha’s preferred candidate and son-in-law, Uche Nwosu.

Our findings also revealed that the preferred candidates of the governors of Ogun and Zamfara States are not on the list to be submitted to INEC today.

It was learnt that the final decision on the issue of primaries as its affect the various states was taken during the meeting of the NWC held on Wednesday in Abuja.

The party has concluded all arrangements to send the names of their candidates to INEC today in order to beat the November 2 deadline for the submission of names of governorship candidates.

A source in the APC who is privy to the outcome of the NWC meeting said the meeting again reviewed the conduct of primaries in the states, especially in areas where there were challenges and decided to weigh certain options before arriving at major decisions.

“Although the chairman was summoned to the villa in the middle of the meeting, the decision on Imo was almost unanimous. Hope Uzodinma is the man”, the source who did not want his name in print told our correspondent last night.

Reports have it that the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, had earlier advised Governor Okorocha to cede 45 per cent of the party structure to Senator Uzodinma’s group in a bid to cater for the interest of the contending forces within the party.

Oshiomhole was said to have asked Okorocha to choose between his senatorial ambition and his desire to have his son in-law, Nwosu, as his successor.

The governor was reported to have explained why he and Nwosu were the best candidates for the governorship and senatorial seats, arguing that no one could win election in the state as presently constituted without his backing.

Oshiomole On His Own, Says Imo Gov

Meanwhile, Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, yesterday dismissed insinuations that the decisions taken by the national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, on issues pertaining to the party primaries had the backing of the presidency.

Speaking to State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Okorocha said Oshiomole was acting on his own.

Okorocha who is also the chairman of the progressive governors’ forum urged the APC national chairman to learn to respect the rule of law and obey court orders where they apply.

He said, “I am here to clear the air that the presidency is behind what Oshiomole is doing in some of the states and which has affected our party negatively. From my understanding of Mr President, there is no such directive for Oshiomole to do anything illegal or create any sort of injustice.

“So, Oshiomole is on his own in this whole thing. There is no presidency’s support for him to refuse candidates who won elections and give wrong candidates who didn’t win election. This is the matter and I will simply say that he is not with the consent of the presidency. He is on his own.

“I also requested that Oshiomole must learn to respect the rule of law and obey court orders where they apply. This issue of treating court orders as tissue papers must stop. It doesn’t reflect the image of our party. He must act quickly to fix the integrity of this party because his coming in ought to have brought joy into the party and not sadness”.

Okorocha also noted that since the beginning of Oshiomole’s reign as national chairman, especially his actions during the primaries, the party had been on the verge of losing almost five million voters.

He however pointed out that the party will not disintegrate as long as Buhari remains president.

The governor noted: “APC will not disintegrate for as long as the person, Muhammadu Buhari, is still the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and remains the leader of this party.

“So, we cannot give that credit to the chairman. He cannot disintegrate this party; the party is still intact, just that many people are hurt. Since his inception and after these primaries, we are losing almost five million voters because of anger, protest everywhere and he needs to be called to order.

“He has to respect the rule of law, respect court orders and do the right thing – obey court orders where applicable and not turn himself into INEC”.

On reports that the party is still insisting on the candidature of Hope Uzodinma as the APC gubernatorial candidate in Imo, he said, “He cannot be standing on Hope Uzodinma because that man did not win election. You cannot compare somebody who won 265,000 votes with somebody who won 7,000 votes.

“He (Hope Uzodinma) never won election and you cannot impose a candidate who is unacceptable to the people to the people. That is how serious the matter is now. So, he (Oshiomole) should do the right thing and I have advised him severally to do the right thing before he creates more disaffection in our party”.

On reports that the National Working Committee of the APC has submitted the name of Hope Uzodinma to INEC, he retorted: “He can’t! I don’t think the National Working Committee will do that because in the first place, the National Working Committee sent a 13-man delegation who conducted election.

“12 of them signed, proving that Uche Nwosu won the election with 265,000 votes as against Hope Uzodinma who got less than 7,000 votes. So, they can’t do that.

“And there is a letter to that effect from the National Working Committee, saying Uche Nwosu won. There is a Certificate of Return given to Uche Nwosu. There is a Police report saying Uche Nwosu, there is INEC report saying Uche Nwosu. So, nobody can do that and if they do that that must be the worst imposition in the history of Nigeria”.

On the position by Ahmed Bola Tinubu that party supremacy should be respected, Governor Okorocha stated that the national leader of the party is being misinformed.

He said if Tinubu was properly informed he would not have said what Oshiomole is doing is the right thing.

Okorocha also dismissed reports that he was planning to defect to the Social Democratic Party.

“SDP? How can I build a house and leave it for someone else? I am in APC, I founded the APC, I gave the name APC and so this is our party and we must continue with the party and build the party for victory,” he stated.

Attempt to hand over our commonwealth to a gang will be resisted – Ogun Gov

Meanwhile, Ogun State governor, Senator Ibukunle Amosun, has reacted to the statements credited to the national chairman of the APC on the raging controversy over the party primaries in the country, saying any attempt to hand over the commonwealth of the state to a gang will be resisted.

“Oshiomhole’s claim that only three state governors are aggrieved about the conduct of the primaries flies in the face of the nationwide outcry that remains loud, trailing the exercise several weeks after.

“We remind him that in any case, justice is not dependent on the number of whom it has been denied. Injustice to one is injustice to all. The overwhelming majority of members of the APC in Ogun State remain unshaken in their rejection of the gangsterism that has been visited on them in the conduct of the primaries.

“They remain resolved that the attempt to hand over their state and their patrimony to a rapacious gang of expansionists in the South West will be resisted, not only by members of the APC but by the entire people of Ogun State who are too enlightened to tolerate such abomination,” Amosun said.

Oshiomhole was quoted to have told State House correspondents on Wednesday that his posture on the primaries was because he would not sell his conscience to hold on to the position of national chairman.

But hitting back at the national chairman, Amosun accused Oshiomhole of exhibiting disdain, in his conduct, for the interest of the APC and that of the national leader of the party, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“In his conduct, Oshiomhole has exhibited disdain for the interest of the APC and that of the National Leader of the party, President Muhammadu Buhari”, the governor noted in a statement issued by the state commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye.

Noting that all Amosun wanted was for Oshiomhole to play by the rules, Adeneye, “We state without any fear of equivocation that no one, at least not on the side of Senator Amosun, has requested or expected Oshiomhole to sell his conscience. The least we expect of him is to abide by the rules and guidelines of the APC. Oshiomhole knows, as we know, that in the instance of the last primaries in Ogun State, he has fallen short of the minimum standards of justice, equity and fairness. The resort to hiding under the false claims about “conscience and integrity” is cheap.

“Oshiomhole knows that there were no other gubernatorial primaries in Ogun State other than the one that produced Hon. Adekunle Akinlade as candidate. He knows that the primaries into national and legislative offices were won hundred per cent by those declared winner by the panel he sent to Ogun State to oversee the exercise.

“He knows that the shenanigan of unknown court injunctions, unknown appeal panels and all sorts unleashed on the process by him and his cohorts are premeditated schemes executed to deny the members of the APC their true choice of candidates in the elections.

“Our consolation lies in the fact that in the fullness of time, what remains unknown to the public will become bare and everyone will see Oshiomhole and his co-travellers for who they are”.

The governor said he remains committed to his convictions about President Buhari and that nothing in the shenanigan of the primaries will change that.

He punctured Oshiomhole’s position that only three state governors are aggrieved about the conduct of the APC primaries.

Politics / Olusola Oke Supporters Threaten To Leave APC With Or Without Him by activistjohnny(m): 7:40am On Nov 02, 2018
Supporters of the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the last gubernatorial election in Ondo state, Chief Olusola Oke, on Thursday, threatened to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state with or without their leader.
The supporters, according to a source, described the APC in the state as an ‘occultic’ group regretted rejoining the party with Oke saying they were being sidelined in the scheme of things and were never accommodated in the party since they took the decision to return to the party.
The supporters, however, threatened to abandon Oke in the APC if he fails to lead them out of the ruling party, and explained to their leader that the leadership of the party and the state governor had never shown to them hand of fellowership. The people who expressed their mind to Oke during a special meeting held at the residence of Oke in Akure, Ondo state capital, called on Oke to lead them to the promised land.
The supporters, who came from all the 18 local government areas of the state, spoke through their representatives, each from the 18 local government area in the state.
Oke, according to one of the source at the meeting, however, apologise to his supporters for taking them to APC, disclosing that he had also faced a lot of challenges in the APC and suffered lots of humiliation.
Oke said: “I regret taking you back to the APC. I want to sincerely apologise to you. It was not my fault. There is no humiliation I have not been subjected to in the APC. There is nothing that has not been done to reduce my political relevance.
“I have decided not to keep quiet again. I don’t care what anybody may say. If you push a goat to the wall, it will fight back,”
The supporters however issued an ultimatum to Oke urging him to lead them to the promised land but they declared their intention to transform the group to Ondo State Vision Group (OSVG) which is for all politicians in the state, pending the time Oke will determine his next line of action
Recall that Oke led his supporters back to the APC early this year after losing the 2016 governorship poll on the AD platform, declaring to work for APC but Oke has gone to political oblivion immediately after his defection. https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/171675/

Politics / Witness Alleges Inducement Of Voters During July 14 Ekiti Governorship Election by activistjohnny(m): 10:45am On Oct 28, 2018
A petitioner’s witness on Saturday told the Ekiti Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that voters were induced with money in Unit 008, Ward 4 of Ekiti East Local Government Area, during the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti.
The witness, Ajayi Olanipekun, stated this while testifying before the tribunal sitting at the FCT High Court, Apo.
The petitioners, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and its candidate in the Ekiti July 14 governorship election, Prof. Olusola Kolapo had approached the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the election.
The respondents in the suit are the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gov. Kayode Fayemi and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Answering a question during cross examination by Dr Kayode Olatoke (SAN), counsel to Gov. Fayemi, Olanipekun stated that there was money inducement during the election.
He stated that he would be surprised to hear that the petitioners did not complain about that in their petition before the tribunal.
According to the witness, “I will be surprised if the petitioners did not complain of money inducement in Unit 8 (Ward 4, Ekiti East LGA) because there was inducement.”
He further claimed that there was over voting in the unit, saying that, “there was over voting and that is not the only complaint.”
When crossed examined by counsel to INEC, Chris Onwugbonu, he stated that he voted at the polling unit on the election day, adding that there was no one with him in the polling booth while casting his vote.
According to him, all voters who voted at the polling unit that day used the same procedure in voting and said that he was present during the sorting and counting of ballot papers.
He informed the tribunal that the duplicate copy of the Form EC8A which he tendered and was admitted as exhibit, was given to him at the polling unit, adding that the original copy was with INEC.
Meanwhile, the petitioners called six witnesses on Saturday, bringing the total number of witnesses called so far to 50.
The witnesses informed the tribunal in their written statements on oath, which they adopted as their testimony before the tribunal, of over voting in their respective polling units where they served as PDP agents.
When asked by Olatoke what he meant by over voting, one of the witnesses Adeyanju Adegbola from Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti East LGA, stated that it was when the number of vote was more than the number of used ballots.
“Over voting is when, for instance, they used 10 ballot papers and counted 12,” the witness, who was the 49th witness (PW49) for the petitioners, told the tribunal.
A witness, Kazeem Olusola Ayeye (PW45), from Itapaji, Ado Ekiti LGA, informed that he was at his Unit 2 polling unit of Ward 5 throughout the election and informed that PDP polled 40 votes, while APC scored 82.
He stated that the total number of votes cast was 122 as contained on Exhibit P13 E(5), adding that this was contrary to the 126 contained in paragraph 7 of his written witness statement on oath.
The tribunal chaired by Justice Suleiman Belgore, will continue the hearing of the petition on Monday, Oct. 29. https://thenigerialawyer.com/witness-alleges-inducement-of-voters-during-july-14-ekiti-governorship-election/
Politics / My LAUTECH Regret Alao-akala by activistjohnny(m): 10:26am On Oct 28, 2018
Former Oyo State Governor and the current gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said that his major regret was his inability to secure sole ownership for the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, which is presently being jointly owned by Oyo and Osun States.
Alao-Akala, who spoke yesterday on a private radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State capital and monitored by Sunday Telegraph, attributed the perennial problem of funding of the institution to the joint ownership, likening the status to that of a man married to two wives who cannot satisfy both equally.
He had made a move to sever the joint ownership, settling with Osun State government so that the university could be owned and run independently by Oyo State, but the processes could not be completed before he was defeated in 2007 by Ajimobi of the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
He explained, “I had an agreement with the then governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He signed and his Attorney General signed. I also signed and my Attorney General signed the agreement. However, the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi failed to implement the agreement. I have a copy of the agreement and I am ready to make it public anytime.
“If I am able to win the 2019 gubernatorial election, I strongly promise to carry out the final process and LAUTECH would be a University of its past dreams.
It would no longer be a case of Oyo State saying I have paid my own subvention; salaries are not paid because Osun has not paid its own”.
To ensure a smooth take-off of campuses of LAUTECH in Oyo State should the sole-ownership sail through then, Alao-Akala said he had put infrastructural arrangements in place at Igboora and Saki towns, promising that the series of administrative and industrial crises bedeviling the institution would be over once he is voted in as governor in 2019.
The strong man of Ogbomoso politics stressed that he would ensure that within the first 100 days of his being sworn in as Governor, he would ensure that the processes towards making LAUTECH solely owned and run by Oyo government would be completed.
Alao-Akala recently fell out with the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi which he defected to about two years ago. He had dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he lost being chosen as the party’s standard bearer in 2015 and went to the Labour Party where he contested but lost to Ajimobi who clinched the unprecedented second term.

•Says INEC should take over political parties’ primaries
• ‘Someone should tell me one thing VP Osinbajo has done for the Body of Christ that we should be proud of’
By Emmanuel Una
Bishop Emmah Isong is the President of the Central Christian Chapel with headquarters in Calabar and also the National Publicity Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. In this interview, he speaks on some issues of national importance.
Bishop Emmah Isong
What do you say to Nigerians now that candidates of political parties have emerged for the 2019 elections?
As you know, I do not speak for any political party; I only speak for the people when God directs me to speak. I come from the village and if I do have an opportunity to speak, l speak for the poor; eternity would not forgive me if I take sides with the rich and nobody is rich enough to make me speak for him. And as the National Publicity Secretary of the PFN, I have a national platform to speak for the people all over the country.
For the past 16 years, almost ninety percent of what I prophesied came to pass. Most of what l prophesied ahead of 2018 are coming to pass. And I am saying ahead of 2019 that we will get the results that will shock Nigerians in the elections. The elections will count. People may say some party men have already written the results, but I say no, go and register to vote and use your PVC. Forget Osun and Ekiti elections and what took place there. Those things are in court but, in 2019, people should get their PVCs because many people will use their PVCs to show their anger. PVC will become like AK 47. Very soon the elections will come and we will have the shocker of our lives.
What is the PFN doing at the national level ahead of the elections?
What the PFN is saying is very clear: People should get their PVCs and vote in or vote out any government they like or don’t like. Christians should not be docile and should pray that God would raise a President who will stop the wanton killings of Christians. We want the killings to stop. Also, the manipulation of our faith should stop.
Parties’ primaries were characterised by crises. How do you see what took place?
All the political parties in Nigeria lack internal democracy, be it PDP or APC, to the extent that the wife of the President raised her voice. For example, I lodged in a hotel in Uyo and, as I went out to return to Calabar, within the vicinity of the hotel, there were so many people with red eyes.
There were gun shots everywhere and the place was barricaded and I rushed back inside and, when I asked what was going on, I was told that those shooting were thugs that just came from the venue of a primary election and that somebody, who had defected from one party to the other, was in one of the hotel rooms writing the names of candidates for next elections, that was October 5. He was writing the names of people he wanted to be candidates of his new party to contest election and those he defected to join were resisting him, saying, before he came, they were there; so they must stop him. In my opinion, INEC should take over the nomination of candidates for elections from the level of party.
Imagine in Lagos, we were told there was no primary and, suddenly, Clement Ebri, who said there was no primary, the next day, Ebri, one of the most honourable persons from Cross River, came out to recant want he said that there was a primary and a winner had emerged and I wept for this country. If Ebri can wake up and say the next day that there was a primary, my country, my children and children’s children are in trouble because there is no future in a country like this.
If the foundation be destroyed, how will the building stand? We have already got it wrong at the party level. The people that you and I will go to vote are the people the party throws up and, already, the PDP is the worst of the parties and APC has got it wrong. Imagine, in over 20 states, APC has two or more candidates for governorship and other positions, prompting the wife of the President to cry out and say, ‘Oshiomhole, you have been a labour leader, human rights activist, why is this happening under your watch?’ I am telling you, I saw people in a hotel room writing the results of an election that did not take place. Somebody should rebuke me now if I am not saying the truth.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President and a pastor of the Pentecostal hue, are you satisfied with his performance?
Before he became the Vice President, I watched him on television when he had a programme in Owerri and I marvelled at his level of intelligence and I felt his university should be proud of him and his mother should be proud she has such a son. I was one of the most excited persons when he was announced the VP but, since he assumed office, somebody should tell me one thing that Professor Osinbajo has done for the Body of Christ that we should be proud of. I thought Christianity had provided the best for this country in the person of Osinbajo but I am sorry to say that his continuous ‘siddon look’, his humility and submission to a so-called cabal and government that is insensitive to the killing of Christians, destruction of churches and operations does not excite anybody. He will wake up one morning and tell pastors they are corrupt, they should go and change their preaching. It is unbelievable what I am hearing from the man we had so much hope in.
What do you say about the attitude of the political class to the people they represent?
The Nigerian political class has continued to wreak havoc, rape and dupe the electorate. The government we have is an insensitive and non-performing one. Have you been to the Calabar – Itu Road of recent? Anybody who wants to rule this country should travel through the Calabar Itu Road and see the death trap first hand and thereafter tell us whether we should still vote for him – how do explain the state of the road? Goodluck Jonathan, as a Niger Deltan President, could not even work on the roads in the region including the East – West Road.
The problem with the political class is that after election, they have no plan to better the lives of the people and the people are taken for a ride and impoverished the more. That is why in political campaigns, the people you see there are thugs and rented crowds. Check from the beginning, from Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom to Udom Emmanuel’s declaration and Ayade in Cross River, you see the same faces.
They hire students from campuses, villages, communities and organisations to attend their rallies. Let the electorate know that they are selling their birthright. They should know their vote is the future of their families. Let them know that selling their freedom is injurious to their rights and privileges; nobody can get better with the money he gets from such action. What should be done to make the difference?
The solution to the situation is for the people to organise themselves into pressure groups and say anyone who wants to rule should come and sign a resolution before voting. And if such person breaches the agreement, we fire him. Such a person would sit up and others following will learn a lesson. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/2019-christians-will-not-be-docile-pvcs-will-be-used-like-ak47-isong-pfn-leader/

The crisis in the All Progressives Congress over its primaries may worsen in a matter of days as there are strong indications that the Ogun State Governor , Ibikunle Amosun , is set to defect to the Democratic Peoples Party .
Investigations by SUNDAY PUNCH revealed that Amosun had already positioned his close allies and top government officials in the state in the DPP to contest against the candidates of the ruling party .
Findings by our correspondents indicated that the officials and aides would be eventually unveiled as the candidates of the DPP in the guise of “consensus on or before December .” A reliable APC source, who claimed to be fully involved in the governor ’s plans , informed SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday that the officials would move ahead of him before Amosun would eventually join them .
The source added , “ The plan is that he may not leave now , but he ( Amosun ) will leave.
“He already has candidates for the three senatorial zones and nine House of Representatives seats in the DPP .”
According to findings by SUNDAY PUNCH , the candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District is Dr. Babatunde Ipaye , who is the current state ’s Commissioner for Health .
In Ogun Central , the candidate is Alhaji Bolanle Adeyemi , a serving Senior Special Assistant to the governor .
For the Ogun West Senatorial District , the governor ’s candidate is the current Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Energy , Chief Taiwo Fagbemi .
SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that “they ( officials and aides ) are to be substituted with the consensus candidates on or before the December 1 deadline for withdrawal / final substitution of candidates .”
For the House of Representatives seats , Amosun ’s candidates in the DPP are Odebiyi Safiu -Abiodun , a former Chairman , Yewa South Local Government Area, as the candidate for the Yewa South/ Ipokia Federal Constituency; and Adekunbi Fatai -Aremu for the Yewa North / Imeko -Afon Federal Constituency.
Fatai - Aremu is a younger brother to the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi .
The candidate for the Abeokuta North /Obafemi Owode / Odeda Federal Constituency is Olabode Taofeek -Babatunde , a former local government chairman . The Special Adviser and General Manager , Ogun Housing Corporation, Olajumoke Akinwunmi , is the candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
Other Amosun allies are Odumosu Olugbenga for the Ikenne/ Sagamu /Remo North Federal Constituency; Mojeed Ekelojumati, a Commissioner in the Civil Service Commission , for the Ijebu North / Ijebu East / Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency seat ; and the current Ifo Local Government Chairman , Ariori Saheed , for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency .
The seat for the Ado Odo / Ota Federal Constituency has Lamidi Rasheed, while Shittu Olawale , the Odogbolu Local Government Area chairman , is for Ijebu Ode / Odogbolu / Ijebu East Federal Constituency.
SUNDAY PUNCH sighted some of the nomination forms of a few of the candidates marked ‘Rep ’ and ‘Senate ’, written with a red marker. Some of the identified candidates , who , however , spoke on condition of anonymity to one of our correspondents on Friday , confirmed that they were on their way to the DPP on the instruction of the embattled governor .
“Yes , it is true, the governor has said we should move to the DPP , but I cannot make any official comment now . Oga will join us later,” one of them in the National Assembly said .
Amosun has alleged that the National Chairman of the APC , Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, colluded with some persons he described as members of the ‘Lagos cabal ’ to manipulate the primaries, especially that of the governorship, in the state .
The APC has submitted the name of an oil magnate , Dapo Abiodun , as its governorship candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission to the surprise of Amosun , who had consistently maintained that a member of the House of Representatives , Adekunle Akinlade , would succeed him as the state governor .
A top source in the state APC , who spoke to one of our correspondents on Saturday , alleged that the National Working Committee of the party “changed the names of the winners of the primaries ” in the state when the list got to Abuja .
“It wasn ’t that the primaries were not held as being widely reported . The NWC said the primaries would hold on Monday , but the officials did not even show up in Abeokuta that day . It later changed it to Tuesday and the state government declared Tuesday as a public holiday ,” said the source while lamenting the current state of the crisis.
“On Tuesday , eight officials came from Abuja . Of course , you know it was impossible for the eight to cover the 236 wards in the state . Winners were announced after the primaries , but when the names of the candidates were announced in Abuja , they were different from the names that emerged from the primaries, including that of Abiodun .
“Don ’t forget what happened also in Lagos ; when the NWC delegation to the state , initially , said election did not hold in the state governorship primary . Abuja made a U- turn later that day to say election held and that ( Jide ) Sanwo -olu has won the election . I believe the same set of people is behind the Ogun crisis .” He , however , refused to comment on the rumoured defection of the governor and some of his lieutenants to the DPP , but argued that any candidate fielded by Amosun “on any platform ” would win election .
“In Abeokuta , it will be difficult for any candidate to defeat Amosun ’s candidate because of what he has done in transforming the state capital . You are aware that that is where the votes are.
“One just hopes they can resolve this impasse quickly . Otherwise , APC may eventually lose Ogun State to another party ,” he said . https://punchng.com/amosun-perfects-defection-plans-plants-top-aides-in-dpp/
