Politics / Gov. Adeleke And The Osun Osogbo Scandal by adem30: 6:14pm On Jul 21
How Market oooo in Osun State

*Gov. Adeleke And the Osun Osogbo Scandal*

It is difficult to believe. It sounds very strange. It was totally out of place. I tried to understand it, but I could not. It is so weird that it beats amazement. I tried so much to look for an excuse to rationalize this absurdity, but I could not find one. I found it difficult to fathom, much less believe that Gov. Ademola Adeleke and his cabinet could be this insensitive and careless. It really beats my imagination. And I am disappointed that a government that has one’s support could commit this kind of egregious error.

The first insensitive act by Governor Ademola Adeleke was his interview on the BBC where the language of communication by His Excellency was Igbo Language! A governor of a Yoruba State speaking the language that his people do not understand. He did not even try to mix it with some Yoruba Language. That reflects a mindset that does not give a damn about what the Yoruba people of Osun State think. I watched the BBC interview from the beginning to the end and there was not a single statement I could understand.

We are all aware that he has Igbo blood in his veins, courtesy of Lady Nnena Esther -Adeleke. But we were trusting that the trajectory of his father, Senator Raji Ayoola Adeleke, would be instructive and guide him in his years of service as Osun State Governor. The late Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke was here before too. We never had issues of insensitivity or actions that look like a sell-out.

And now, our Osun Osogbo Festival is being handed to an Igbo man. In Osogbo, a Yoruba city. In Yoruba State. In Yoruba Land! This is simply because we have a man we assumed is one of us, but sees himself as an Igbo, as a governor? What kind of message is he sending to us as Yoruba, that we are stupid for giving him the benefit of the doubt?

A purported letter signed by one Oyindamola Olukanni, under the designation of Media Manager Osun Osogbo, which must have gone through the Office of the Governor, with Kabiyesi Ataoja being used as a prop, is threatening brimstone and fire, over the control of information regarding the 0sun Osogbo 2024. Though, I find the threat toothless because it will not stand a chance in the court of Law if I violate. My lawyer has assured me.

But the point of concern is that as a Yoruba man, whose culture and tradition is being celebrated, I have to go through an Igbo man by the name of Wilson Chibututu, to get the so-called permission! What a travesty! What an audacity! What a disrespect!

This is a Yoruba State, if I must state the obvious. This is Yoruba city. This is Yoruba land. And this is Yoruba tradition and culture we are discussing here. I would not say because I have so many friends in this government, and I would refuse to tell them the truth. This is bad policy and dangerous optics, as well as consequential politics!

It is disrespectful. It is insulting. It is insensitive. And it is uncalled for. It is contemptuous. Very discourteous. An egregious impertinence. This is daring. This act could be characterized as “what are you gonna do about it?” type. But we wait to see!

It is my hope that the unwise letter would be withdrawn, and a public apology offered to the citizens of Osun State.

Gov. Ademola Adeleke was elected to serve Osun State indigenes, not to give our resources to outsiders when our own people are in search of the same. And not to speak the language we do not understand.

This is a line that could not, would not, should not, and must not be crossed. Our people DO NOT LIKE IT.

It is friendly advice.

Thank you.

Politics / We Will Not Forget 1999 To Date: Major Scandals That Have Rocked Nigeria's Democ by adem30: 8:09pm On Jul 14
WE WILL NOT FORGET 1999 TO DATE: MAJOR SCANDALS THAT HAVE ROCKED NIGERIA'S DEMOCRATIC JOURNEY SINCE 1999.
extracted from Daily Trust by Ayoade Davidson Ojeniyi FCA 14 07 2024.

1. Salisu Buhari's Toronto Certificate. A whistle blower gave all the details including where the certificate was printed and how he changed his age. He was jailed but OBJ pardoned him. He was an effective and efficient Speaker. He was a power dresser. Evan or Evans Enwerem removal as a Senate President due to Certificate forgery. Unlawful removal of Senator Rasheed Ladoja and his reinstatement. The backdoor removal of Chris Ngige by Uba brothers and his escape and reinstatement.

2. OBJ's 3rd Term Political Ambition. Corruption at his highest. N50m freely given the Senators each. It is worth N500m now. It was killed but a beautiful Constitutional Amendment was not signed by OBJ bc the 3rd Term Agenda was supposed to be part of the amendment. That beautiful amendment contained a lot of devolution of power. During that time, the governors were better. Currently only Zulum, Sanwo-Olu, Otti, Mba, Farmer Bago and Makinde are performing. During that time, we had Tinubu who later handed over to BRF. There was a country. We saw good governance in LAGOS. Fear no fear you But Amboooo later came sacking anything BRF bc BRF earlier sacked him as Lagos State Accountant General.

3. Heavily rigged the 2007 Presidential Election and the beneficiary Umar Yaradua, a complete gentleman protested against the result. Yaradua was a good man but he protected a looter James Ibori and he humiliated the then EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu just bc of Ibori.

4. Refusal by Yaradua's wife Ture's cabal to hand over to Jonathan when Yaradua died. Tunde Bakare hala. David Mark quickly did Doctrine of Necessity. Jonathan later excluded Yorubas from his government. The Far East hijacked his government.

5. Patricia Ette removal and the emergency of a very young man Dimeji Bankole as the Speaker. Dino was seriously beaten up and 10 hefty Legislators carried him out of the Chamber.

6. Farouk Lawan in a subsidy logjam was captured in a pen video clip by Otedola, loading Dollars into his cap in order to free Otedola's FO Petrol from the subsidy probe. Lawan is in jail now.

7. The effective Occupy Nigerian Subsidy protest of 2012 against Jonathan/PDP led by Buhari, Tinubu, WS, Femi Falana, Femi Kuti and Tunde Bakare. Ojota was occupied. Showore was at his best.

8. Riot at NASS, Gbajabiamila jumbed in through the gate to prevent Tambuwal from being impeached as the Speaker. Gbaja almost broke his back. The same Gbajabiamila some years later was betrayed by Tambuwal. Tambuwal recently betrayed Wike and Wike is yet to recover.

9. Bukola Saraki outwitted APC to thief the Senate President in a earthquake alliance with the PDP. Dino now emerged as a powerful Senator and fighting anybody in sight. They made a lot of money bc they were in charge of the Senate hefty cowries. A Senator would just see an alert for N150m as a weekend expenses in the village. Dino also fought Senator Oluremi Tinubu who is much older than him. A taboo in Yorubaland.

10. Omo Agege boys thief the mace during a Senate session live in front of the TV cameras.

11. Orubebe almost dabarued the 2015 Presidential Election Results Collation bc his principal Jonathan was losing to Buhari. But the INEC Chairman, a Prof, remained calm and gentle and destroyed Orubebe with superior arguments.

12. Obi and Obidients claimed to have won the 2023 Presidential Election Results despite Obi not winning anything in the Far North.

13. Highly scandalous, Dangote Refinery to be importing crude oil from the USA and Brazil, so the fuel pump price will still be determined by the exchange rate. If IOCs are not selling crude oil to Dangote, what of NNPC 43% crude oil share? What's happening to our own Portharcourt Refinery

14. During the last May 29, 2024, PBAT stepped on his large agbada wear and fell down and he has since been wearing the smaller version called sapara. By the way PBAT has since agreed to flood the market with food items from abroad and he has secured LGAs Autonomy as being practised in Lagos since 1999. Tinubu is sharp and he can speak very well.

15. It was unfortunate, that up till today, we have not been able to clear bandits/Malians from our land. Intelligent gathering can do it. See how police used intelligent gatherings to clear off 9 billionaire kidnappers that came from the Far East to kidnap a very high valued Igbo legitimate business man in Ladipo area.

There will be a country and may Tinubu succeed. Amen

Everything you said is okay except calling him a simp. Inside peace shows on the outside and sometimes can be expressed. I am always careful to call a married man simp because he may have a daughter and a good wife. There's nothing wrong in simping for your daughter and your wife especially if she is a good wife and gives you peace. In this case, the man is saying the wife takes care of his home with little resources he provides her and that she also makes everybody happy in the home. What else can a gentleman ask for? A good wife should be honored and if giving her some authority especially in the areas you're clueless on is simping, I approve it.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Begs Nigerian Army To Shun Coup D’etat Plot by adem30: 11:28pm On Feb 10
Epstein:
President Bola Tinubu on Saturday urged the Nigerian Army to shun actions that could truncate Nigeria’s democracy. grin

The president made this plea at the Diamond Jubilee of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna on Saturday, according to his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

“I urge you to continue to play your constitutional role of safeguarding the territorial integrity of Nigeria, our fatherland,” said Mr Tinubu.

Mr Tinubu added that the army “must shun any acts that are inimical to the well-being of our nation and acts which can destroy the gains of democracy which we have enjoyed in the last 20 years.”

While celebrating fallen heroes who lost their lives protecting the country’s territorial integrity, Mr Tinubu said, “The war against the enemies of Nigeria is not over.”

He charged the Nigerian Army to “upscale the fight against insecurity, which has robbed us of peace and progress.”

The president’s plea to the Nigerian Army to shun actions that are capable of truncating democracy comes as the continent witnessed a series of coup d’états.

In the past three years, several African countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Sudan, and most recently, Niger Republic and Gabon have been controlled by military juntas who cited corruption, insecurity and increased poverty as the bases for the takeover from democratic governments.

From 1966 to 1993, Nigeria experienced several coups, excused by military regimes on widespread corruption, electoral fraud and violence, poverty, and insecurity. The country returned to democracy in 1999.

Politics / Ndume: My Daughter Works At CBN, But I Spoke The Truth About Moving Offices by adem30: 8:47pm On Feb 01

Ali Ndume, chief whip of the senate, says although he has a child that works in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), his comments on the proposed movement of the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and some offices of the apex bank to Lagos are “the truth”.

Last week, the senator representing Borno south said there would be “political consequences” for moving the aforementioned offices.

The senator made the comments following the recent announcements that these offices will be relocated to Nigeria’s commercial centre.

The development elicited varied reactions, with northern stakeholders like the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Ndume’s who outrightly rejected the decisions.

Particularly, the whip’s intial comment elicited outrage in some sections of the social media.

While Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide, said Ndume’s comments were capable of sparking a crisis, Sunday Karimi, senator representing Kogi west, said his colleague spoke for himself and not for the senate.

However, Okupe backtracked later, saying the Borno senator meant well for the country.

In his defence, Ndume said his comments were borne out of patriotism for the country.

‘I SPOKE THE TRUTH’

Speaking with TheCable on Monday, Ndume said his comments that there would be political consequences were the truth.

“Even if my ward is working in CBN, is she the only person that is going to be transferred to Lagos? There are hundreds of people that they planned to move to Lagos. Whenever an issue like this crops up, instead of addressing the issue, the people and some of the reporters will now concentrate on the messenger, not the message,” he said.

“So this is the kind of distraction, let us discuss. Is it necessary at this time to relocate some of these departments and agencies of government back to Lagos. Why was the capital moved from Lagos to Abuja, was it not because of congestion, because of inconveniences, because of inefficiencies?

“And since then, Lagos has been expanding. This argument that they are forwarding, that it is for efficiency. What efficiency? In today’s world where you can do transactions electronically, you can do meetings by Zoom, you can communicate by WhatsApp, you can transfer documents by PDF. There is no excuse there [decision to move CBN, FAAN to Lagos].

“Coming to the political issue, yes, it must have consequences because when Tinubu was elected, he was not appointed, he was elected.

“Then even if I have a ward there, my daughter or my son or whatever, which I do, I should not say anything if I see something wrong going on, I should not speak because my daughter is there, that does not work.

“You see, somebody has to stand up to speak the truth. That is what I am trying to do.

“Let’s say I have a ward in CBN. Is there anything wrong with that? My daughter for example or my son or whatever, because I am a politically exposed person, does that take the right of my ward or my relative to work in CBN? That is one.”

‘STAUNCH SUPPORTER OF TINUBU’

The Borno senator expressed confidence that Tinubu will take the right action on the issue.

“I am in APC and proud of APC. One of the staunch supporters of Mr President,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the people outside are trying to be more catholic than the pope. The pope knows me very well, that is Tinubu, he knows I speak the truth. Tinubu will do something because he knows I spoke the truth. There will be political consequences.

“Haven’t you seen the reaction from the Katsina elders, northerners generally, are against this move. Is it not true that he will seek the votes of northerners in 2027?

“Is it not true that northerners again or the opposition will take advantage of this too? Now they [section of the north] are telling us ‘we told you that this man is a tribalist, look at what he is doing. In one year he has started making moves to hurt the north’.”
