Technology Market / AI, Jobs And The Future by AfricaMars: 2:23am On Apr 03 |
We live a significant part of our adult lives working jobs, and a good chunk of that part just shuttling to and from work. For many of us, our jobs exert the majority of our life stresses, especially when we are stuck in difficult and mundane jobs we do not like. A large amount of our time and emotions, over our lifetime, get invested into our jobs and the work we do, and that would not be so bad if it was work that came with meaning and enjoyment. If the above statement is the reality of the majority of adult humans, then it wouldn’t be such a bad idea if Artificial Intelligence (AI) comes along and takes these jobs away while still providing us with income and freedom. It needs to be mentioned though, that the idea is not to live in a utopian post Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) world where humanity has an intelligent servant doing everything for us while we just wait month after month to receive our Universal Basic Income (UBI) checks. In this hypothesis, AI will raise our productivity by helping us more efficiently perform tasks that we do not have to perform ourselves, so we can move to other useful contributions to the society we are living in. Technology Market / Stability AI CEO Resigns To Pursue Decentralized AI. by AfricaMars: 9:51pm On Mar 24 |
Stability AI CEO resigns because you’re ‘not going to beat centralized AI with more centralized AI’ https://techcrunch.com/2024/03/22/stability-ai-ceo-resigns-because-youre-not-going-to-beat-centralized-ai-with-more-centralized-ai/ Just like OpenAI, Stability AI started as an open AI program aimed at democratizing AI development and access. After becoming a unicorn following series of raises of capital investment, it has become another centralized AI project. The CEO Emad Mostaque is stepping down to pursue decentralized AI development. Lately decentralized AI projects are beginning to gain favor with developers and training communities. Stability AI https://stability.ai started with a similar goal to what projects like Raven Protocol https://ravenprotocol.com and the Nigerian AI startup Theia https://theiapp.com are now doing. AI should be decentralized to make it fairer to everyone.

AI opportunity is here and I am glad I am beginning to see apps to offer users the opportunity to own a piece of the action. Athene Network seems to be the most popular AI mining opportunity presently, but there is equally an amazing network developed by a really smart team called Raven Protocol https://www.ravenprotocol.com/ they already issue coins There is also the Theia AI building and training community that you can contribute data too and get a piece of the project at https://theiapp.com

Technology Market / Re: Impact Of Artificial Intelligence (AI) To The Society by AfricaMars: 2:43pm On Sep 27, 2023 |
I like that the article is from 3 years ago. Now we can analyze this in retrospect. AI will definitely have a positive and negative social impact as mentioned in the article, and the fear should not stop us from pursuing research in a technology with such great potential to help humanity in more positive ways than negative. As suggested by the top researchers like Meta’s Yann Le Cun and Google’s former AI chief Geoffrey Hinton, certain checks can be developed and regulation set up to ensure ethical AI. There is a risk of corporations consolidating power as they develop and own the future AI technologies. Some attempts have been made to make AI more socially beneficial and owned by a community. OpenAI’s attempt ultimately became commercial. I have recently seen Stability AI https://stability.ai and Theia AI https://theiapp.com trying to make their Artificial Intelligence owned by the community helping develop and train it. Most people don't go beyond the first episode because it is slow. But after that, you will be hooked. And you only need to watch the complete season once. Not like other shows you can go back and re-watch. ehis010: 1 Like |
TV/Movies / What Made Breaking Bad So Good? by AfricaMars: 3:47pm On Nov 26, 2019 |
Movie and TV show producer usually look for big names not only for performance but as a way of ensuring a projects financial success. They also try to make every scene shot as exciting as possible while dialogue scenes a limited to brief conversation to keep the audience engaged. What Breaking Bad did was; 1) They did not try to cast the biggest stars or names in acting. 2) And they were not scared to delve into the detail even if it meant losing part of the audience. 3) Breaking Bad just understood what their audience wanted! Do you think these strategies will work in Hollywood or in the African movie industry in general? For Example, https://7thpicture.com is trying to discover new talent and give them a guaranteed movie role. https://7thpicture.com believes you can make great content with new faces as long as they have the talent. Is this strategy marketable in Nigeria? |

You can find a lot of acts on social media aimed at getting the performer to fame. Some may work, some won’t work while others backfire like the girls that did a video saying one of them was impregnated by Davido. It is also difficult to audition for reality TV show like Bigbrother https://africamagic.dstv.com/show/big-brother-nigeria-s4 join a talent show like Gulder ultimate search. Unless for a few new programs like The 7thpicture https://7thpicture.com to get you into the industry, aspirers have to spend a long time self-promoting or just wish they know someone or get lucky. How would you advice someone on the quickest way to become famous in this Internet age? 1 Like |

I've probably heard these somewhere before and usually, you'll find that agencies promising you a lot of fame, contracts, auditions, record label signing, endorsements and blah blah blah. What you may not have heard is that the process can take a very long while and a huge chunk of your resources in time, money and efforts. It takes unto a decade and sometimes, you just might not be interested anymore. But focusing on your talent is different. Improving and showcasing your talent is the best way to become a celebrity, not by making empty noise on social media. What is the advantage in pushing on and getting better? Imagine Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston only getting a decent career making Hollywood role in his 50s. A lot of aspiring singers, and other talents that I have worked with in the streaming business whom have spent years trying to make it, have told me (gisted actually) they would have spent a lot of time pushing themselves out there on digital platforms and gauging feedback to get better. How real is this? Trust me, no one can market you like you can do for yourself. Seize the opportunity, use tools available today to open your own window of opportunity to get into the entertainment market, utilize and register yourself and push your work on www.youtube.com www.instagram.com www.7thpicture.com and even www.nairaland.com. You HAVE to Believe in yourself first and be confident to put yourself out there! All the best! |
