Pelumi Nubi, a Nigerian lady, who embarked on a solo trip from London, the United Kingdom, to Lagos Nigeria, has been denied entry at the Sierra Leonean border.

DAILY POST reports that Pelumi had on January 30, 2024, commenced the two month solo trip in a car.

However, updating her over 40,000 followers via her Instagram page on Tuesday, Pelumi explained that the country’s officials denied her entry, noting that “right-handed drives” are not allowed in Sierra Leone.

“Access was denied so close to the finish line and I’m facing a tide of challenges that feels relentless. Each border crossing, a battle against multiple red tapes. This time Sierra Leone, they don’t want my ‘right-hand’ drive car to come into their country.

“This is a call to all my virtual family, to send words of encouragement because your support truly means so much to me, and I hope they let me in. For now we are here waiting for some good news.”

After driving for nearly two months, Pelumi is scheduled to arrive in Lagos on March 23.

A judgment debtor, Bamise Ajetunmobi, who is believed to have scammed over 27 aggrieved Nigerian investors in a failed Ponzi scheme has told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos today that he is interested in an out of court settlement regarding a N15 billion fraud, which he’s facing before the court.

On July 14, 2022, Justice Toyin Oyekan-Abdullahi (now retired) of the Lagos High Court sitting in Osborne, Ikoyi had delivered judgment in favour of the 27 aggrieved Nigerian investors/claimants and ordered Bamise and his wife, Elizabeth Ajetunmobi who allegedly fled the country after duping them to pay back to the investors the sum of N18.8bn with interest. The court had also frozen funds and properties of the defendants worldwide as well as all monies standing to their credit.

The whereabouts of the couple remained unknown after the Lagos Court granted the order but following reports that Bamise was arrested in Côte d’Ivoire while trying to board a flight to the UK, he was returned to Nigeria and handed over to the police who subsequently detained him at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Alagbon, Lagos.

The FCIID, through one of its legal officers, Morufu Animashaun, obtained a remand warrant against the defendant, but before his arraignment by the police, his case file was taken over by the AGF’s office, who subsequently arraigned the defendant before the court on August 12, 2023. His wife is said to still be at large.

He has since been in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services, owing to his inability to produce the N5 billion bail sum and other terms granted him by the court.

At the resumed trial of the defendant today, his lawyer, Dr. BU Ukpenna, informed the court that he had written a letter to the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to seek for an out of court settlement of the matter.

The prosecutor, Mrs. Kehinde Bode-Ayeni, after receiving a copy of the letter, asked the court for a short date, to enable the prosecution get the approval of the AGF.

By the consent of the parties, the matter was adjourned to June 26, for report of settlement.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will today, Thursday, October 5th, arraign popular businessman, Chief Cletus Ibeto before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over an alleged N4.8 billion fraud.

The EFCC will dock the businessman alongside his companies, Ibeto Energy Development Company and Odoh Holdings Ltd before the court on a 10-count charge bordering on allegations of conspiracy, fraud, forgery and fraudulent use of documents.

They are to be arraigned before Justice Ismail Ijelu.

The charge sheet sighted by LEADERSHIP was signed in April 2023 by the Head, Legal of the EFCC, Gbolahan Latona.

Count 1 of the charge says that Chief Cletus Ibeto, Ibeto Energy Development Ltd and Odoh Holdings Ltd between June 2016 & May 2017 within the jurisdiction of the court by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from Dozzy Oil & Gas Ltd and Sir Daniel Chukwudozie, the sum of N4.8bn purporting same to be consideration for 22.6536 Hectares of land which he claimed to have at the end of Reclamation Road Layout, Port Harcourt, Rivers State by a deed of sublease executed by Odoh Holdings and. ibeto Energy Development Ltd when he only had 7.9 hectares of the said land.

Count 2 states that the defendants obtained N2.5bn from their victim as consideration for a non-existent 14.1 hectares of land while count 3 claims that they forged certain documents
