Nairaland / General / Ebonyi Road Blocks As 2 Trucks And A Crane Collide On Ezillo Bridge by chyndorek: 6:56pm On Mar 24, 2022
As early as 8am today, commuter going to Enugu from Abakaliki and those going to Abakaliki from Enugu were stuck as 2 trucks carrying fuel and a crane attempting to draw out a truck that fell into the river collide making it impossible for people to pass even those on legs. People resort to pay N50 to touts who blocked the river so that the can walk or swim pass the river to the other sides of the road. As at the time of writing this, 5:47 pm, people are still not sure of passing. I personally got to the point at 8:45 am and had to cue and wait this this time, it is a frustrating experience with nothing to tangible to eat except for very hot water being hawked around. Nawaoo

Whoever wrote this piece and the person that published it are the typical example of why we Nigerians will never progress. The building you are seeing was initiated in 2018 by the governor as an accident and emergency complex. There was an accident that happened during the campaign period which involved the present minister of science and technology, Dr. Ognonnaya Onu and his convoy. The victims were rushed to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki. When the governor came to sympathize with the accident victims, he was not okay with the size of the accident and emergency unit and he asked the hospital management to give him a land to build a modern accident and emergency unit. Like joke , 2 weeks later, work started on the site and that is the building you people are you are publishing as COVID-19 isolation center. Shame on you the editor and publisher of this story. This building is accident and emergency wing of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki.

Nairaland / General / Federal Government Withholds Salaries Of Johesu Members And Paid Doctors by chyndorek: 5:10pm On May 04, 2018
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WITHHOLDS SALARIES OF JOHESU MEMBERS AND PAID DOCTORS

The Federal Government has withheld the salaries of members of the Joint Health Sectors Union, JOHESU for April.
In a letter from the FG to the health workers who are on strike over the inability of the government to meet their demands, the FG stated it has activated its “No work, No Pay” policy which sees workers not receiving their salaries for last month, April.
In the letter written and signed by the Head, Department of Hospital Services, Dr. J.O Amedu for the Minister of Health, the FG said; “You will recall that the Joint Health Sectors Union(JOHESU) commenced a strike action on the midnight of Tuesday, 17th April 2018 despite all entreaties by the Government for them not to.
2. In line with provision of Section 43 of the Trade Dispute Act CAP 18, Law of the Federation of Nigeria(LFN), 2004 and the International Labour Organisation’s principles concerning employers’ right during strike in essential services, the Federal Government has invoked this Provision and is therefore enforcing “No Work, No Pay” law on Unions and Associations who decide to embark on strike without consideration of Government efforts to resolve their request. This directive is the decision of a High Level Body of Government Stakeholders chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.(SGF)

3. I am directed to inform you to stop the April 2018 salary of all JOHESU workers who have defied Government by partaking in the strike. You are also directed to strictly keep the Attendance Register of all staff who are not partaking in the strike. As JOHESU workers in your institution are yet to be captured in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System(IPPIS) platform, you are to implement this directive of government on your GIFMIS platform.
4. Please, accept the assurances of the warm regards of the Honourable Minister.
Signed
Dr. J.O Amedu(mni)

Civil Servants are the engine room of every Government. Any Government that neglects its workers is not only wicked but heartless. You cannot built a Secetarait with billions of Naira while your workers are hungry. When I was the Deputy Governor, I suggested to my boss, chief Martin Elechi to increase workers salaries but he vehemently refused. I appeal to you to vote for me for I will increase your salary by 100%.

Gov. Umahi in Jan. 2015

Ebonyi Civil servants are very lazy, No Jupiter on Earth will make me increase workers salary. The cells in their brains are dead that is why they keep asking for increment instead of accessing loan to do business. We have discovered that civil servants have been over paid by 10% since 2011. We shall be working on ways to effect the deductions. The secret of failure is trying to please everybody.

I have being a Nairalander for over 6 years and had respect for this site. Of recent, I have come to doubt the authenticity of all the reports I read on nairaland.com over the years simple because.
1. Am an Ebonyian and most of the reports you publish here about Ebonyi are either unverified, false or tainted.

2. The reports sound as if Ebonyi State Government has paid you to spread the propaganda it has being carrying along.

One of your last reports on Ebonyi, you mentioned how the government has released 1.5 billion to pay for pensions and gratuities but failed to tell the whole world that the pensioners are being force to accept only 20% of their gratuity. what happens to the rest 80%.

You never reported that civil servants salaries have remained the same even after promotions. no addition has been made to anyone's salary despite the fact the their should be yearly increments.

please if a report comes to you try to verify before posting to avoid bringing down the respect people have for your site. with all these tainted reports people will be inclined to believe that every other report the read here is as tainted as the ones the one before you published it.
