I get your point. Its alright to be asked series of questions by investors. But dnt you think after spilling your guts to tye investor, it is pertinent to let the person know that they cam fund the said idea or business? Rather they just disappear into thin air. I am growing my business gradually and i dont need Nigerian investors cos they are never serious. |
As a continuation of the existing thread http://www.nairaland.com/1247249/nairaland-dragons-den-get-funding/3#15546437 I wish to state that the way people come here to advertise that they need businesses to fund and end up doing nothing is kinda interesting. They talk alot here and end up doing nothing. If you are interested in funding an idea or existing business then you should try to meet with the entrepreneur, prepare some paperwork, invite the person for a physical interview, etc and then you fund the business. What i see here are so-called investors who are looking for a business venture or idea to hijack and own. If you are a serious investor, please introduce yourself here, What you do for a living, amount of cash available for investment and your location. If you are a lawyer, please tell us what it takes for a proper agreement to hold and what benefits both parties (investor and entrepreneur). Business plans and start up ideas can also be placed here to. I have a plan but when i noticed the games investors are playing, i decided to start setting up the biz by my self. Its up to an extent and i will continue further, if as an investor you are interested in partnering with me, then i can drop my business idea here too. And we will come to an agreement AFTER a lawyer has made us understand what we stand to benefit from the business both as in investor and as an entrepreneur. I don't need no so-called investor hijacking my business and owning it because he invested some money. So let the games begin ![]() |
OP i dont think you are serious. If you are in distress as you have pointed out there are options which you can use. Sell one of your bad laptops to fix the other, if the money isnt enough, then go do some manual jobs to raise the balance abi you dey shame? i once sold my external hard drive, CD ROMs just to get capital to start bulk sms business. Its a normal thing. |

We have been working hard during the last few months on a personal project which is a project of personal re-branding.I am not only carrying out a personal re-branding but establishing a corporate web company. I have quit running a one man business and i have decided to take my business to new heights. I am doing this with only one objective in mind - Client Satisfaction. Gone are the times when i brag about skills and yet end up not giving clients proper satisfaction. I am building a superb team which can do about almost anything on the web for you. My new team members are from India, Uk, and United States. Also, i have been able to partner with a dynamic and topnotch web development company in The United States. And all these are a contributing factor that we have struck gold in client satisfaction and AFFORDABLE rates. They say anything worth doing is worth doing well, and as such, i have decided to go beyond my limits. Its time to let the world know that something good can come from Africa and Nigeria particularly. Hence, i wish to introduce you to Myprova. A topnotch web/administrative consulting firm hitting the streets big in the cloud workers environment. Though our website is still under construction, our logo is attached herein. Thanks for your help nairalanders, you have taught me alot: dual core, yawa-ti-de dhtml, seun, graphicsplus, etc. and what i have learnt from you guys is that packaging can give you anything you want. Since my repackaging, i have had projects worth up to N450k in the last 6 weeks and more are still coming. Upcoming web developers or internet marketers, you can learn from this. edited. Cheers. ![]() |

1forall: OP tell us, who are your clients? Please explain your question better. LeJeun3:Yeah, super busy. Data Entry position Its a research work which results are posted in an excel sheet. The job is to find contacts for malls in Latin America. shopping mall name mandatory address FULL mandatory state mandatory country mandatory phone number mandatory email corporate mandatory link of shopping mall or source mandatory 1 contact name corporate + title if they find it directly on the website or sourcelink sometimes you will need google translate and the list is more than 1000 contacts. The pay is $31 (N5,500). You have 2 weeks to submit result and get paid instantly (if you have a voguepay account), but the earlier you submit yours the earlier you get paid....you can even finish it in 2 days if you are serious. First, you would search for 10 contacts in Sao Paulo, Brazil and input in excel to instantly qualify. The 10 contacts thing is a basic requirement from the client. The job is for one person, so the first person to submit his/her excel sheet to me will start working instantly. Email: nwakstar2020@gmail.com The excel sheet format to use is attached below. |
MsSantaClaus: Databoy247 I left Avenues to Wealth in 2009 , when they were still holidays and Cash, so I can't claim to know what happened . At that time apart from the travel voucher, the only thing they were selling were the laptops, both new and second hand if I can remember rightly. I don't know how they evolved to Avenues to wealth, but at the time, it was simple and fun. As I said , it is individuals that sometimes complicate these issues. Having said hat I would hope your experience with A2W has not soured your belief in network marketing, as you seem to be a thorough and astute business person. I particularly liked the way you went about making enquiries! Awesome! You will do well when you find the right niche! I wish all distributors were as thorough , hard working and calculated in their approach to their mlm business. We would have more success stories and fewer tales of woe! Please follow my thread on how to make your chosen network marketing venture work for you, your input and criticism will be greatly valued. Thanks for your compliment. Despite the fact that i like MLM, i am yet to find a suitable company that has tailored focus for the Nigerian society. I joined FLP when i left avenues to wealth, its a great company. In fact i was working in a team that has the youngest senior manager in Africa. BUT they have their short comings too. The products are way too expensive (definitely not for the faint hearted), otherwise it would have been my final destination......over 33 years track record. I have also been invited to several others like Dubai fun club, edmark, and more recently Wealth Partners Co-op. I declined all of them because of some unexplained lapses. For the wealth partners, they claim to be a corporative society with MLM strategy. The founder called me and while talking, she said they have gone into agreement with GTBank to enable members get soft loans. Great! BUT when i called the bank, they have never heard of them. The last time i spoke with Deolu (A2W MD), i was impressed (surely he is a great talker) but i felt all he cares about was your renewal fees. SMH I still believe in MLM but when i see the right company that suits the Nigerian market, sure, i will hop in. But for now, am comfortable doing what i know how to do best which is being a Virtual Administrative/Web Consultant. ![]() |
I guess i cant hold myself back anymore. I cant call avenues to wealth a scam but their modus operandi does not suit me. I joined them some years ago and i had my own personal observations that made me pull out; - Their flight search portal is just a hyperlink to an unanimous flight search portal owned by some Indians. It does general flights search and matches cheap ones at the moment. - In their presentations and seminars, they say its domiciled in over 100 countries because of the defunct H&C but in reality, its just Nigeria, South Africa and about opening shop in London. - Non of the bigwigs in the company can explicitly tell how H&C transited into avenues to wealth. Was it a buy out? - Also in presentations, they talk about cheap and discounted local flight tickets to members. In reality, and as a member i called one or two of their so-called travel agents and was told that NO airline company in Nigeria offers discounted flight to members of A2W. The only airline that offered such is Ethiopian Airline and its for international flights (the discount is just a pinch). - Some hotels that they claim will give you discounted rates as a member have not even heard of A2W. - They said as a member, you can post adverts on the portal and receive thousands of customers. Good Idea! But guess what, i posted an advert and for 3 months it was lot listed. I call virtually all their customer care lines and none seem to know what to do or tell me, rather they kept transferring me from one to the other. At the end i was told that there is nothing they could do because the website is being managed by developers in Malaysia and not in Nigeria. I dont know if these observations have improved. if it has, then one registered member should come here and tell us how much discount is given to them for local flights.....i will renew my membership immediately Now, they are delving into the marketing business of buying and selling. They are not focused, they dont have a specified product or line of business as any network marketing company should have. They are gradually becoming a "jack of all trade and master of none". And such companies with lack of focus tends to fall apart sooner or later. My two cents ![]() |
Nice thread so far. We have alot of upcoming entrepreneurs in the house that have great ideas that really should be looked into. Ideas are of two types; those that exists in the western world and their possibility of becoming a success here if tweaked properly to suite our environment, and virgin ideas that have never existed. While it is hard to get investors for the later, its fairly easier for the first. But the mind bugging question i have is what exactly is the role of the investor? Its good to come here as a would-be investor, look for entrepreneurs with mind-blowing ideas and ask them all the questions in the world to know if it will be a worthy investment. But you guys should make somethings clear to these entrepreneurs, are you looking for a business idea to invest money and OWN? Is it that you have some spare cash and dont know the kind of business to set up, hence looking for great "ideas"? I think its either you let the entrepreneur know that you are going to be the owner of the business after putting your money, be an angel investor or a shareholder kind of investor where your funds will be used to grow and develop the business, then at the end you have predetermined ROI for as long as possible. I have a business that i really need an investor, but from the private responses i get, i think its better i set it up myself. I have outsourced the interface design to a great developer in India and when that is done, i will go into the next phase which is getting registered members from some selected countries with a target of over 5000 users within the first 2 months. Then other things will follow. So, in my own best interest, i will develop the business to a point where you can become an investor by buying bluechip shares and become a private shareholder. Your funds will be used to develop the business more and then your ROI is better spelt out. When i was doing my bulk SMS business, i had plans to build a mobile app which will get 100,000 users in 12 months. A well laid out plan. So, i sent out requests to would-be investors and i got several calls especially from Nigerians in diaspora with an intent to invest. The truth is, they are all a facade. If they cant own the business, they wont invest. ![]() To cut a long story short, i had to sell off the business and delved into what am currently doing, which has been the birth place of my new plan and which am going to PERSONALLY see it's established. ![]() 3 Likes |
I dont see any issues with it from my end. can you pls give me a screenshot so i know what you are talking about? |

yawa-ti-de: Hehehe....reminds me of a situation whereby a guy came to me to take over the maintenance of their company website. But he met a very strong resistance from the Head accountant. I asked him how much was being paid to the current maintenance guy, and he said N500k yearly and the website has never been updated for more than 2 years now ![]() It appears the account dey make like N100k from that amount so he has to safeguard their "investment" ![]() |
I spoke to my inside man i was told they have a unit responsible for that. The unit must be full of quacks ![]() 1 Like |

I think the best term to describe such career is "Web Consultant". Yes, its a profitable venture but with the challenges presented by clients especially Nigerians and the general working environment, it tends to be frustrating. When i start off, i was strictly into building websites (the parts i cant do very well, i outsource) and it got to a time, i began getting just one job in 3 or 4 months...i was getting frustrated. I didn't back out but rather i went to the drawing board and re-strategised. I added other services that have to do with web development and the internet as a whole, like; - SEO - Content development - Email Marketing - Customer service - Graphics and logo creation - General Web advisory services - Now i even extend my content creation to building organizational profiles, etc All these and more makes you a "Web Consultant". Now if am not doing a website, am doing SEO or content development, or email marketing, etc so am always busy. I cant say i have hit the jackpot in the business yet but, i can say i am OK. At least i can pay my rent, feed, entertain myself, and also have flexible working hours. I have a powerful laptop, backup generator, and an Android phone for follow-ups. You don't necessarily need an office. My bedroom is my office and i love it, cos the bed is close by ![]() Also, to excel, look at how you source for clients. Business cards can be underestimated but they are a great marketing tool. If you have money, print flyers, send out bulk sms campaigns, do word-of-mouth and trust me, someone will start calling. Once, you get you first set of clients, then comes referrals ![]() So, its a worthy career. Just repackage yourself according to GraphicsPlus. 2 Likes |
shcash: They hardly reply mails or support tickets and even their usual online chat system is no longer working. There phone number not going true! One RED WARNING alert on top of Cpanel. Well, i dont see any RED WARNING alert on top of my cpanel. If they dont reply to mails or respond to support tickets, it means they are facing the same issues voguepay faced some time ago - lack of enough support staff. It means they are growing and now get more than enough workload than they can handle. They have to get that fixed ASAP. Also, i was also wondering why they took out the live chat thing. BTW i love them and whogohost....they remain my best webhosting companies in 9ja ![]() |
If you work indefinitely, you wont sleep at all. What i do now is prepare a work schedule, assigning certain hours to work every night. I try to cap off my work by 2am or at most 3am Max. If there is no NEPA light, i wont still sleep cos i will have to put on the gen. When i know say if i nor work i nor go chop? And in order for me to stay on schedule, i try as much as possible to avoid Facebook and almighty Nairaland so as to be focused. ![]() |
My sister desperately needs one in PH. Any options there? |
I don't know if its possible for private freelancers to develop an android app for GTBank. If its possible, then please can someone who is into mobile app development do something about it? What they have (mobile money app) in GooglePlay is full of crap, fear nor even let me download am cos it has a whole bunch of bad reviews. GTBank should live up to their name oh ![]() 1 Like |

I believe being a webmaster is not just about writing codes upon codes. SEO, content development, blogging, email marketing, web graphics, etc are attributes of a webmaster. And i find myself doing majority of these daily. I discovered that the most convienent time for me to work is at night...less noise and no distractions. If you do audio transcription jobs, you would understand me. As a result, i find my sleeping time to be around 3 or 4 hours every night. My problem now is that i cant even sleep during the day because of loads of distractions. So, whats your story, how many hours do you sleep at night? |
