chemashie: Thanks Chesmashie, hope you are good too! They want a proof that you already left South Africa and not going back. Thats the frustrating part. The new immigration law has in effect cancel all repatriation deposit for all temporary forms of visa, that means, all formal repatriation deposit should be returned to owners. But I dont know why they are asking for proof of final departure from South Africa before they can pay back. They also said that for people that have changed their status before 26th may, 2014 while in the republic can claim their deposit back at the nearest home affairs, but when I went to their Pretoria office today, nobody seems to know whats going on. I think you can claim back at the abuja office but how will you give them a proof of your final departure from SA. |

kingmayor: The following is required to apply for your refund Any person who claims a refund must submit the following documents: (a) Application for refund of repatriation deposit form (available at South African Foreign Missions or Department of Home Affairs Local Offices); (b) Original Passport (for verification purposes); (c) Original receipt of the deposit; (d) Proof of banking details / warrant vouchers (cheques); (e) Proof of final departure from the Republic of South Africa on or before the expiry of the temporary residence permit; and (f) in the case where an application for refund is made in the Republic, proof of change of status prior to 26 May 2014 or proof of permanent residence permit. (NOTE: Anyone who had overstayed his or her permit shall not qualify for a refund, as he or she would have violated the terms and conditions of his or her temporary residence permit). Failure to claim a refund by 28 February 2015 will result in the deposit forfeited to the State as unclaimed. |

MojAyo: Hi MojAyo, the 60,000 naira is a fine for overstaying your visa. After paying the money you are now qualified to apply for another visa. It is not a guarantee that you will be issued the visa, they still have to do their own verification and check your documents if all are in proper shape before they make their decision |

eighty7: Hello Collinsfbi and all, pls could you help me out,? Do you know of any agency or reliable agent that helps to secure admission into South African Universities at undergraduate level? I need one urgently please. Applying directly to the universities appears to be a herculean task. pls help. Securing admission for undergraduates studies is not that hard!, you dont need an agent to help you out once you have all the requirements. Which University are you planning to apply to and which course. One thing you should know is that school fees for undergraduate study is very expensive here, once you have the issue of fees sorted, others should be easy |

adewumigloria: @Tosol, I presented my SAQA certificate at the emabassy, but someone on this thread said he got his without SAQA. He said the Lagos office asked for it but that its not necessary at the abuja office and I think someone confirmed it too. @Typop can shed more light on this. Yes, you have to submit SAQA evaluation with your application if you are submitting in lagos, its not required at abuja |

surecan: For those who have seen South Africa study permit, does it have an indication of the term 'study permit' on the visa sticker? 2. Can one study a post graduate masters course without living in South Africa? Yes, the name of your school will also be written on it. There are some part time postgraduate courses available, but you will not be given study permit if you apply for some distance learning courses, its only visitors visa that will be issued for you. |

julianauche19: OK.so u mean my originals.if possible state all the certificates needed here for me.I have my HND,WAEC,FSLC.just this? Also the transcript.will they give me in hand or will they address it to saqa themselves? I mean the certified photocopies of your waec, your degree of hnd certificates and the transcripts of all the courses you did. It might be the student copy of the transcript. You will need to colour scan all the certified copies of your documents and your passport, send it to someone in south africa, the person can apply on your behalf and also go to collect the results when ready |

julianauche19: Thanks so much. So how do i go for the evaluation .what are the process involved? [Quote author=kingmayor] You will apply for SAQA evaluation with the certified true copies of your certificates, transcripts and ID. SAQA evaluation can only be applied for here. There is the express application which takes around 10-15 working days to get the evaluation certificate and it costs around R1000 (am not sure), the other one takes roughly 2 months and its like half the price for the express evaluation. |

julianauche19: Great thread.please my degree is HND,can they approve me to do my masters with it in SA ? If not .are their any other program that am supposed to apply for first in SA before they can allow me to do masters there? Also if its possible is there any UNI that u guys can suggest for me that will be more economical ?I studied electrical electronics engineering Hello, the first thing you have to do is SAQA evaluation, the outcome of the evaluation will suggest what you can apply for here. Although I have seen some universities taking HND holders directly for masters, but if not, you will first need to apply for honors degree which will take 1 year, then you can then apply for your masters. Generally, postgraduate education here is not so expensive compared to some other countries and you can also pay the fees in installments, but if you are going for honors, you have to pay for all the courses you have to register. As I said earlier SAQA evaluation results will suggest what you can apply for. Goodluck |

september14: I want to apply for an s.a study permit, I have a virgin passport but the date of my birth in this passport is incorrect. During my application is it ok if I submit my birth certificate and an affidavit stating my original date of birth? Would this be accepted? I will advice you not to do anything to jeopardize your chances of getting your study permit. You cannot get full assurance from anyone if it will be accepted or not. You can always get another passport that will state your real date of birth if d mistake is from immigration. |

princeprincess: i dnt just want to pay that money because is too costly for me to give in just like that.i learnt that people who travel to S.A by tourist visa dont pay that money and they can apply for any school of their choice when they get there?thats why am thinking of applying for tourist visa?kindly advise me or inbox me any information to this e-mail princeadelekm@gmail.com When you are given admission you will still need to apply for study permit visa, that is what you will use to register at the institution, you cannot register with a tourist visa, u can only apply for admission. The thing also is that I dont think you can spend more than a month is SA at a time, so whats the probability that you will get everything done and your study permit will be ready within that stipulated time. At any rate u will still need to pay repatriation fee when you apply for study permit here even if you come here with tourist visa. |

molue27:As far as your payment and confirmation info is on the one you submitted, otherwise you might be called upon to furnish the remaining part. Just back it up with prayers. Your application would have been dispatched to the embassy except you call the embassy and ask for update on your application then they can tell you if anything is missing. |

princeprincess: pls nairaland:i want to travel 2 S.A as a tourist, how can i arrange the document myself ?pls i need info Are you not the same person asking about study permit?. You cannot dodge paying repatriation money, if you dont pay in Naija you will still have to pay it here is S.A which is more expensive. You can check through the past pages of this thread, you will find everything you need there. Its good for you to apply by yourself, if your documents are genuine then you will be granted. |

3rd eye: And pls @kingmayor I will strongly advise to check all your available options before you spend lots of money coming here without any solid arrangements. There are lots of Nigerians here doing nothing, and they cant go back home because they invested heavily in their travelling and people back at home are also relying on them for support just because they are out of the country. There are no easy jobs anywhere, and I dont think you can meet up with work visa requirement just by staying few weeks. There are lots of documentation involved, although anything is possible but its not a bed of roses. |

elume2020: @kingmayor, let me state I got a scholarship from SANEDI, probably that is why I was allowed to process my study permit and mind you God's favour to get through the security and the whole process. Just as u read this I have arrive joburg. Had a gautrain ride from the airport to rosebank for 173 rands. So I wish everyone the very best in their endeavour. And please whenever you arrive here give a good impression about Nigeria. Thanks to God for the opportunity and special thanks to Nairaland for information and advise. One love my people. Its good to know you are here, have a wonderful and prosperous stay.. |

iyiolami: @mayor,Kindly advise on the option of going to SA on a visitors visa with the intention of submitting my application for study over there.please tell us all your professional advise. Its very possible and easier to apply for study permit here, you can just come with all your documents and make the application, it is processed faster and they wont take your time unnecessarily. But you will have to pay the application fee and repatriation fee. I think repatriation fee here is more expensive 7000 Rands. |
